Latest on Diaz from BJ

Taking the interview gives the man leverage, although going to Temple is a significant gamble should he not win, and win big. If her were to stumble while the Owls coach the chances of him being hired by a top program in he future become almost nil. Furthermore, if he continues to produce while a Cane the chances of him becoming Miami's head coach down-line is a certainty.

We live in an instant gratification world. Let's hope Manny is mature beyond his year's and shows patience and wisdom, because that would be the astute and shrewd thing to do. His father may be a stabilizing influence in this area, unless he too read the things being said about his son that were similar to the despicable comments that helped drive Butch Davis to the Browns. Potentially a disastrous self-fulfilling prophecy, as being a head coach at Miami due to the fan base has a short shelf life, and Manny being a front row spectator knows that to be unequivocally true.

The irony? Only a year ago the Herd was screaming that he be immediately fired, and claimed he was a failure every other place he coached, thus would never succeed here (read last year's archived game day threads). Sound familiar?

While I disagree with 99.99% of the things you say on here, this represents the 0.01% I would consider to be spot on. Nice work.

Pretty sure the person they are hiring already knows they working out the language of the contract.that's if rumors are true that temple is close to naming a hc.Everybody will know by Thursday morning who it is.

They have not interviewed the interim HC yet, and that’s who the players support.

Butch was a little different imo bc we had smelt success within the last 10 years. He deserved a little pressure. Miami hadn’t won a bowl game in 10 years(remember being in high school watching that game vs Nevada) when Richt took over and hasn’t won a natty in ovee 15 years. But I do agree we have a fan base that is so unrealistic with where al golden left this program and the success we have had since he left.

Larry Coker isn’t happening. I think one of the guys with ties to the northeast schiano, Elko, or Michigan d-coordinator,but mannys defense speaks for itself.

Agree. But my point was that Larry Coker May very well merit an obligatory interview, so it should delay any announcement.

The three on your list make the most sense to me too

Go to Temple where the talent is putrid?! Oh, Ok...make perfect sense
Go to Temple and make 3 times the money while his name is hot, or wait? He May NEVER be this hot again. None of you fools would turn down a massive pay raise, but you all expect him to. My point was never that Temple would have better talent, but that next year Miami won’t have the talent on D they had this year. The D very well could take a step back, and that could hurt his chances at landing a HC job. God, some of you are thin skinned, or at the very least lacking comprehension.

I see your point. Personally, I would take the money. Selfishly, I don't want him to leave bc Mork sucks and is stubborn. O is not going to improve much based on a lack go coaching changes...just sad all around

Have you ever been to Temple?.....recruiting would be a nightmare....the comfort of his family questionable...assembling a competent staff on the 1 st round as a HC...another question....away from his base that he is comfortable in enjoying.....and you say that money can replace all these comfort levels?.....**** no.
If Manny's wife and kids are settled and comfortable in SoFla, he knows the money is coming, and the hassle of uprooting (which he did for so many years) ain't worth it....
He could play on the come, and win with the U....
Manny is looking long term, not the short term grab the $$$$'s and stuff his pocket.
He is much smarter to build his rep at the U, instead of years of 5-6 wins at Temple, and most important the family would have to be on board with this grab. Doubt it .

Yes, money and career progression can. It's a short term destination stop in his coaching career if he goes. 2-3 years is nothing in the grand scheme of things. I learned this both in the military and in my medical career...you can due a few years in a certain place that might be less than optimal as far as social life if it involves more money and an ability to elevate yourself to a better position. It's called sacrifice. I get it, some of you live in 1 place and have never moved anywhere else, but it's fairly common for folks to transplant for more money and opportunity.

Don't get me wrong, I hope he stays and think he can pull a better HC position this offseason at a P5 program.

The last 4 Temple head coaches
Al Golden -> You know where
Steve Addazio -> Boston College
Matt Rhule -> Baylor
Geoff Collins -> Georgia Tech

At least do some research homie. Temple has actually been a little more successful than you think. It's not a bad move for him. I can definitely see Manny being the best recruiter out of the above 4 coaches mentioned and I think he'll be able to stack up a decent coaching staff. As others have mentioned, if he's a good HC then I have no doubt you'll see him at a big time program within 3 years.

Also, it's not like Philly is some bumblef*ck city in the middle of nowhere. Temple is definitely hood but Philly is a massive city with great history and bomb food. I'm a Temple alum and went to the Temple-ND game a few years back where Gameday was in Philly. The whole city got behind it. My best friend is an ND fan and he came with me. He got turned away from 3 bars cuz he had an ND shirt on. Philly can be brutal but if you're winning...there aren't many other cities in the world that will support you quite like that city. If Manny finds an up and coming OC I can see Temple having some UCF type success at Temple.

Anybody think about the fact that other than Mike Rumph and Jess Simpson the other defensive assistants are his guys. If he leaves he wont be leaving alone.

Temple is an irrelevant football program.
