Latest on Diaz from BJ

Temple interviewed him on Monday .... until they make a decision, Diaz has to continue to do his job at Miami. he can't just sit on his *** and wait for Temple to make up their minds. LOL
If it's Manny it'll give him hc experience without the pressure like he'd get here.fans here wouldn't be very patient if he only wins 7-8 games his first two seasons as our hc.

Temple would be a good place to get experience as a HC

Talent doesn't mean much if you do nothing with it. We've continued to put 2* and low 3* guys in the NFL, and have more NFL players than Arizona, ASU, Baylor, BC, Colorado, Duke, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Iowa State, Maryland, Minnesota, Northwestern, Oregon State, Purdue, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, Rutgers, Syracuse, TCU, Texas Tech, Vandy, VA Tech, Wake, and Wazzu. We're tied with UVA, WVU, and Miss State.

Not questioning the fact that some Temple players go pro...but as a collective whole, Miami is a much more talented team. Now, do we always play like a super talented team? no, but Manny going to Temple would be a straight money decision and a stepping stone to a Power 5 gig. I am sure he thinks he can win in the AAC with Temple caliber players. At least win enough to finesse a Power 5 HC gig. I personally don't think he should bounce for the Temple job. He should stick to a middle of the pack Power 5 team in the south where he can still use his recruiting ties to the area

We actually expect to win 10+ next year.

doesnt matter when Temple does the actual hire. up until that time, Diaz has a contract to do his job with Miami. so the original point i was making is that him being on a recruiting trip is not a sign that Temple was not going to hire him. thats all
True but I don't see cmr letting Diaz recruit for us if that was the case.

Temple has not made a decision.... and until they do, Diaz has a CONTRACT with Miami to do his job . The recruiting visit Diaz
was on Tuesday would have normally been scheduled weeks ago.

That would be like UVA, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Duke. Unreal pressure to win at Ole Miss. South Carolina is the best of the rest. I'm not sure how UVA, Duke, Vandy are any better. Maybe he gets something like NC State or Virginia Tech.

NC State would be a good fit

Increase Manny’s pay to $1.5M and add HCIW title. May not matter, unless behind the scenes Manny would know Richt is planning on retiring in two or three seasons. Add $250K per season until then.

And you could say the same exact thing this year, how are you not getting this? Outside of LSU, there was no team on our schedule that had as close to the defense that we did. You just mentioned that I don't have any idea of what kind of offense these teams will have, well neither do you. And for example, Mack Brown at UNC is looking to go full air raid offense. You keep mentioning that if we play mistake free - Every team's goal is to play mistake free. That's coaching.

Okay...That was a good laugh. Mack Brown at UNC is going full air raid...LMAO. They better find a QB because no one on their roster can complete a pass over 5 yards.

Lets just leave it at this...I'm optimistic that we will improve because of a overly weak schedule and a marginally better offense since Rosier is gone and your pessimistic that they will improve at all.

Lets see what happens.

Turn down a head coaching gig to remain with Mork? Mario pt 2 lol!

Taking the interview gives the man leverage, although going to Temple is a significant gamble should he not win, and win big. If her were to stumble while the Owls coach the chances of him being hired by a top program in he future become almost nil. Furthermore, if he continues to produce while a Cane the chances of him becoming Miami's head coach down-line is a certainty.

We live in an instant gratification world. Let's hope Manny is mature beyond his year's and shows patience and wisdom, because that would be the astute and shrewd thing to do. His father may be a stabilizing influence in this area, unless he too read the things being said about his son that were similar to the despicable comments that helped drive Butch Davis to the Browns. Potentially a disastrous self-fulfilling prophecy, as being a head coach at Miami due to the fan base has a short shelf life, and Manny being a front row spectator knows that to be unequivocally true.

The irony? Only a year ago the Herd was screaming that he be immediately fired, and claimed he was a failure every other place he coached, thus would never succeed here (read last year's archived game day threads). Sound familiar?
