Latest on Diaz from BJ

Yes. But don't let facts get in your way. We lost games due to losing the turnover battle (in most losses), poor field position due to a horrible punting game and a HC that chose to follow his gut which has always led him astray in the past. So Let's see who we lost to and examine that point.

LSU- We don't play this year but Florida is somewhat similar so we might lose.

Virginia- We have them at home and I don't believe we will turn the ball over 3 times in our own territory to allow them to beat us again and we have them at home. Plus they lose 3/4 secondary. They scored 16 points and we barely lost.

Boston College- We don't play them and Louisville (replacement on schedule) is not good.

Duke- We lost the turnover battle and they don't have Jones or Rahming this year.

GT- New system new coach. They will not be running the **** option anymore and will need time to flip the roster. We have them at home also.

Here's the thing. I'm ****ed too and I don't think that Richt is a good coach or someone who will lead us to the playoffs or much less win it all. But, put your hurt feelings aside and really look at this pathetic schedule which is even worse than this year. The only games in question are Florida and Florida State and that's only because of Richt and his 30 year old offense.

I say 10 and 2, winning the coastal and losing to Clemson in the ACC game. Richt will get an extension and **** everyone off...LOL.
Having experienced 2018, we can easily go 5-7 in 2019. We just went 7-5 with an easy schedule, and with one of the best defenses in the country.

LOL......

LSU - If Richt loses to UF, he should be fired right there and then. Mullen inherited a mess at UF and he'll be in his 2nd year at the program.

UVA - So Virginia losing 3/4 of their secondary is huge? Correct me if I'm wrong, but, aren't we losing 3/4 of our secondary? UVA had a QB that beat us with a dislocated pinky. We also barely beat them last year at Hard Rock. They're far from a guarantee.

GT - Probably will win.

Duke - Beat us at home. You act like Duke's the only team that's losing something.

If I know Richt he will lose to Florida and one other game that he has no business losing...probably Florida State.

Regarding UVA, you might be right but I don't see Perry or Williams having that poor of a game at home vs an inexperienced Defense. We may be young also but one thing that is quite evident is that we have a lot more talent on D then they do. Will our offense come to play is the question but I have no doubt our defense will shut them down.

Duke- Someone like Jones is a QB that Duke gets once every 10 years. I don't see them beating us.

*We lose games when we can't flip field position and we lose the turnover battle. It takes a perfect storm of those two things happening and our HC being stupid. I don't see those things happening in games again except for maybe our HC making stupid decisions. Even if he does, I still see a 10-2 season if not better.

Duke beat us during the Al Golden era. They hadn't beaten us since the 70's in Miami. This isn't a pathetic Duke team, Cutcliffe actually can coach and get the full potential out of his players.

If you have to ask if our offense will come to play in year 4 under a supposed offensive guru, it's probably a good idea to ask yourself if said coach is the right person for the job.

You keep preaching field position and turnovers. How about our offense has been getting worst every single year under Richt?

he should be HC in waiting, this will be the only salvation as fan base has lost all confidence in Deacon Richt.
& to a certain extent B.James & BOT. how much longer can we ride what Butch did 15+ years ago ??
trending toward irrelevant in scheme of things today
knew Coker, Shannon and Goldie were poor decisions but expected Deacon Richt to provide a well coached unit
at least......

Your right. He is going to continue to do his job because Temple has not made up their mind yet. If I was a betting man, I say Mike Elko gets the job.
no way you let the coach you want out of your city. you give miami a chance to counter offer and talk him into staying. if they wanted him BADLY they would have made him an offer on the spot. on the other hand if he had an offer and he was sleeping on it i doubt he would be on the trail recruiting. i think its big if he is out visiting kids tonight.

Elko has a ton of history in that neck of the woods...he knows the area and would have to be their top choice, my guess is Manny is #2

IF Manny leaves, call Kevin Patrick about the DC job and possibly let him run the DL as well; Banda and Patke likely leave with Manny so there would be options to fill their 2 spots (or let Rumph handle all DBs with DVD backing him up) vs using those jobs for other positions.

You can also consider shifting Jess Simpson to coach the OL if the new DC also wants to run the DL.

The identity of the defense could easily be maintained or actually be better depending on the hire.

In addition to KP, Winston Moss and Mike Barrow are out there and available for LBs as well. Either way it's not a bad problem to have.

People giving Diaz too much credit. I live in Austin so I seen what happens when Diaz defense goes against a quality offense which we didnt see much of this year or last. people forget the LSU, BC games where they just lined up, did some misdirection and moved the ball at will. No doubt the offense sucks. But if Miami ever had to play good offensive teams you would see it and be bltching about it. Gave up 24 points to Toledo

you mean the LSU game, where LSU had less than 300 yards of offense for the whole game?

I've already said that Richt is not the right person for the job. It's just that I'm not blinded by hatred to see how bad this schedule is for 2019. Here's a pathetic but probably going to be actual fact by the time 2019 Miami schedule is concluded.

3/4 of the teams on the schedule will struggle to have more than 200 yards of offense vs us and Richt will still keep games close with his 30 year playbook.

Well, we know he's interviewing for a HC job now. Would you say his chances are better or worse if the D isn't as good next year? So yeah, double, triple pay raise NOW, or wait for what may never come? Doesn't take Einstein to see it's a good career move for him. UM is a sinking ship, at least currently. Temple isn't great, but it is a launch pad to better HC jobs.

To say UM is a sinking ship right now is a bit histrionic. There is lots to think about in a career move and instant pay rise is not the only thing. He has family here and local ties, and he is in a spot now that if he plays his hand right could be available that might not be if he leaves.

He is probably deserving of a pay raise here and a change in title like asst. HC that could put him in line to take over the top spot here in a matter of a few years or less if the ship is not re-directed (I would hardly call it sinking). Temple, as you rightly say, is not a destination job. He already is on a team that a Temple HC jumps at given the opportunity (we've seen this story play out already). The jump is much shorter where he is at now than if he were to leave. But I could only guess, as you, what the best decision is for him because we don't have all the facts at our disposal.

Unfortunately, opposing fans of every team, minus Central Michigan, can now place a W next to Miami when previewing their own 2019 schedule predictions. Also unfortunate, recent results and the past decade + suggests nearly half of them will get it right

What position groups and/or individual players do we have that will create sufficient matchup advantages to give us 10 wins next year?

It's seriously laughable when posters cite what other teams are going through and declaring it as factual while guaranteeing us a win. We have our own problems just like other teams. Our problem is our coaching is arguably the worst in our division while our talent level is the best.
