Well for the record, I didn't use the word "easy"..I said "weak"..I stand by my statement that playing UAB, Wagner and Temple is ALOT better then trying out this new offense against UF the first game of the year.

Compared to UF, all 3 of those teams are "weak".
 
Loved that interview, it’s great that we actually have tangible evidence of lashlee operating at an elite level offensively running the spread. Anyone can go and say they want to play hard and fast but it’s another thing when you can back it up seeing he was top 5 in plays per game and #3 in the country of explosive plays 30 yards or more behind Oklahoma and ucf in 2019 along with the other gaudy stays they put up. He Also provided smu with their first relevant season since the death penalty was dropped on them too which can’t be understated

I love the hire but he didn't provide SMU with their first relevant season. He's not the HC. Let's not attribute these guys things that they weren't responsible for this time around. Lashlee was responsible for offense. People were attributing Bama's offense to Enos, and he got here and didn't run their stuff as his base offense.

no one shouldve attributed bamas O to enos. he didnt call plays there locksley did. he coached the QBs so people attributed the work he did with Hurts to Enos, which is fair. people looked back on his Arkansas OC days as to the O

You must not remember the chatter when he got hired then. People were of course praising Hurts but there was also talk about how he affected Bama's offense as well, generally.

Big difference from enos and lashlee though. This was HIS offense while enos just coached the qbs at bama so we can attribute there success to lashlee considering they were one of the top offenses in the country. And this was smu first relevant 10 win season since the mid 1980s when they got hit with the death penalty, what are you talking about? Their offense had much more to do with that compared to their defense which wasn’t nearly as good

This kind of offense should take some of the pressure off the OL. It's designed to help the QB get the ball out faster.

They had perfect opportunity to ask him how his offense has evolved with him being with Malzahn soo long and growing under him to the last couple years being with coach Dykes and implementing more air raid in passing game. Dont think they even understand the nuance of spread/airraid/etc. like most fans..

Will probably go thru whole offseason and no one asks him that, will keep fingers crossed tho..

So it's on Lashlee and not Sonny Dykes, the proven HC for the turnaround? You weren't even paying attention to SMU during the season.
 
Obviously, the biggest challenge is the players having to learn a 3rd new O system in as many years. So far, Lashlee's system doesn't seem nearly as complicated as the Penos system. How quickly the players can grasp the new O will be the biggest challenge the O will face.

Not only is The U an incredible opportunity for him as far as exposure, he is most likely tripling his salary. Even if it is for 1 year, he made the right decision for his family as he has 4 kids.
