Laremy Tunsil to the dolphins

Great value pick, dude was rated #1 on a ton of peoples boards prior to his little twitter incident, personally I am glad that it happened, set it up perfectly for us. Now on to address more pressing needs in the later rounds where there are still plenty of good players

Hes the most talented player in the draft and Miami's biggest need. This was a great pick for the Dolphins
STOP! It was not their biggest need. They have two good tackles(one made a pro bowl this year) and Signed Jermon Bushrod(2x pro bowler) said he was going to play G and Kraig Urbik they didn't need to draft him over Myles Jack or Darron Lee who btw are instantly better Koa Misi Day 1.

Myles Jack aint playing Day 1...

When you want to succeed in the NFL, you draft the best player available and Tunsil was the good choice to make!
Yea and the best player available usually coincides with needs or did you just choose to ignore Louis Riddick of ESPN saying that during the draft...oh btw the first day Myles Jack puts on a NFL helmet he would've been starting over Koa Misi

Nobody criticized the Dolphins decisions more than me...but this was a fabulous pick. Things could not have shaken out better for the Phins.

They move back, gain 2 starters, and STILL get one of the top 5 most talented players in the draft. If that wasn't enough, they just solved TWO problems with this pick:

1)Quality depth & versatility along the O-line
2) The guard issue

#2 is solved because either Albert or James , both of whom played guard in college, will slide over and end the Donald Thomas experiment. That gives you 2 good tackles, a very good guard, a good center, and then the other guard spot you have a decent stopgap in Bushrod (spelling).

For the first time in about a decade I'm about to say the following words...I applaud the Dolphins. They actually got this one right. Hopefully we can follow it up with a quality corner in round 2.

I just don't see it man. How does this team get better with 7 pro bowl tackles?

I'm not of the idea that you get the most talented player on the board if he's an OL, especially when you dont need one. If it's not a need I think you grab the most talented guy if he's Julio Jones, AP,...etc. not a guy who isn't going to make a difference in the scoreboard.

This team just has a stupid amount of holes....

no safeties (reshad holding out)
no CBs
no linebackers
no rb
DEs at the end of their career

I hate to use the swiss cheese cliche' but only because even swiss cheese has less holes

You can't solve every problem with one pick...but as I stated above, this one solves TWO.

1) You have an aging Albert who truth be told, should welcome the move to guard as it will not only extend his career but plug another hole for the Dolphins.
2) You now have flexibility and depth. Most teams would kill to have 4 quality O lineman with tackle experience...we now have that. The only thing in the NFL that is a sure thing are injuries. Every team gets them and at least now we are better suited than most teams to handle an injury to the O-line. It should also be mentioned that 3 out of our 4 tackles have experience playing guard as well...so it's not like guys are going to be playing brand new positions. This truly becomes a situation where you get your 5 best guys on the field.

I think you need to sleep on it and revisit it after you've had some time to let it soak in. As I mentioned in my original post NOBODY ***** on the Dolphins more than I do. Their incompetence has rivaled that of UM's administration, which is no easy feat. Gotta give credit where credit is due though...this pick was a home run. You can call it lucky since NO ONE predicted Tunsil to fall this far, but you still gotta give the Phins credit for pulling the trigger.

It can't be said enough...the Dolphins did really well here. There's still quality corners you can get in round 2 (and don't rule out the Phins trading up to secure one of them).

As for running back...I'm not worried about it all. It's stupidity to draft a RB that high so I was thrilled when Elliot was selected cause it stopped that flirtation from becoming a reality. RB's have too short a shelf life and are too easily replaceable to ever draft one that high. Plus...I think the kid we took last year will be more than serviceable.

over Myles Jack though??? I mean I get it we have O-line problems and you can possibly move Juwan James inside but they signed Jermon Bushrod who said he coming to play G, as well as Kraig Urbik and Myles Jack is an instant upgrade over Koa Misi, same can be said Darron Lee. They could've even traded down, gotten more picks, and have gotten a good CB in William Jackson. Not to mention this kid has a lawsuit filed against by his stepfather, was supposedly in the hotel room with Robert Nkemdiche when he fell 15 feet and found weed all over the place AND a picture was posted of him smoking out of a gas mask 10 minutes before the draft that apparently was taken "years" ago. I know he probably didn't do it the day of the draft because that would reach a whole level stupid but still.

If CEO's, President's, and most everybody else can smoke in college, I really don't care if a football player does.

CHICAGO — An anonymous hacker used the night of the NFL draft to try to take down Laremy Tunsil and the Ole Miss football program.

Moments before the draft began a video of Tunsil smoking out of a bong fashioned out of a gas mask was posted onto his Twitter account. When it had done its damage, moving Tunsil out of the top 10 entirely and to the Miami Dolphins on No. 13, the hacker started on Tunsil’s Instagram account.

There they posted screenshots of alleged text messages between Tunsil and John Miller, assistant athletic director for football operations, in which Tunsil asks for money to pay rent and also for his mother's $305 electric and water bill. In reference to the former, Miller makes a reference to "Barney." Barner Farrar is Ole Miss' assistant athletic director for high school and junior colleges.

“I made a mistake,” Tunsil said in a press conference. “That happened.”

Pressed if that meant he had taken money from a coach, Tunsil said, ‘I’d have to say yeah.’

This is potentially devastating news to Ole Miss, which is already in the midst of an investigation process with the NCAA. A notice of allegations (which included violations that led to Tunsil serving a long suspension during the 2015 season) was delivered to Ole Miss in January. A third party requested a 30-day extension earlier this month. While Tunsil was being asked if he had met with the NCAA, his agent Jimmy Sexton's assistant stopped the press conference and escorted Tunsil to a room down the hall before closing the door.

Tunsil missed the first seven games of the 2015 season for receiving the use of three loaner vehicles over a six-month period without payment; a four-month, interest-free promissory note on a $3,000 down payment for buying a used vehicle; two nights at a local home; an airline ticket purchased by a friend of a teammate; and one-day use of a rental car.

The whole scene played out as one of, if not the, wildest draft day scenes in the history of the draft.

The leaking of the video shocked those at the NFL Draft and apparently those in team meeting rooms — multiple reports said that the Baltimore Ravens were set to draft Tunsil at No. 6 overall before the video was posted. As a result he was taken off their board entirely, and the Ravens picked Notre Dame's Ronnie Stanley.

Tennessee, who was expected to pick Tunsil when it had the No. 1 pick, traded up to No. 8, but instead of taking Tunsil the Titans went with Michigan State's Jack Conklin. Conklin was considered clearly the third-best tackle in the draft behind Tunsil and Stanley.

Tunsil admitted to the contents of the video — "I made that mistake several years ago."

"We know the story behind it," Miami Dolphins general manager Chris Grier told reporters in South Florida.

Even before the video dropped Tunsil had bad news during draft week. His former stepfather, Lindsey Miller, filed a lawsuit on Tuesday alleging Tunsil had defamed Miller's character during the parties' legal issues last summer.

Tunsil, who left Ole Miss after his junior season, gave up two sacks in three seasons as Ole Miss’ left tackle. He sat out the first seven games of the 2015 season, but once he returned the Rebels were a top-10 unit among power five schools in yards per game and sacks per pass attempt.

I feel bad for him, this is supposed to be the best day of his life and now it's ruined by some *******. Just look at his interview his interview...look how bad he's sweating. Yea he's the most talented player in this draft but there was other positions of need that needed to be addressed, especially since we sign Jermon Bushrod and Kraig Urbik.

Great pick. The Dolphins OL has been awful. I love Jason Fox but he got killed last year. The guards are perennially awful. Tunsil will battle Albert with the loser moving inside.

He's a dancing bear with great flexibility. Doesn't seem like a bad guy, just a country kid with a mooch stepfather.

The dumb motherfcker was posting videos on Twitter smoking weed through a gas mask an hour before the draft. Hard to spend a high 1st on such a dumb motherfcker.

if you believe that tunsil would post a video of himself doing that before the draft costing himself nearly 15 mil according to most, then he’s not the dumb motherfcker here....

A really good PR rep would see the mask as a marketing gold mine. Dude will be fine in Miami; introduce him to top quality Cuban Habanos and Glen Livet, he'll never smoke weed again. Put him on the cover of Cigar Afficianado in a tux with a loose bow tie, dropping ashes from a pre-embargo Padron on the mask in the ash tray with a classy caption about transmutation. Problem solved.
