Lanorris Sellers to the U next year?

All QBs have a bad game or two. Ward had two clunkers back to back while at WSU (UCLA and Zona). Sorsby's worst games as a passer this year were the opener against Nebraska (still ran for almost 100 yards with 2 TDs) and the most recent game against Utah. Inarguable he had a really bad day against a top 20 defense. But if you think Sorsby isn't a winner because he had one stinker this season, you have a strange rating system for QBs.

The thing that kills the Cristobal/Dawson offense besides the penalties is turnovers. It's a conservative offense that leaves no margin for error. Beck has been an interception machine for almost 2 seasons. Sorsby is nearly perfect with taking care of the ball- 21 TDs with just 2 picks this season. With this year's defense, we're likely undefeated or at worst a 1 loss team if we have a QB who doesn't throw game ending picks.

We can do better than Sorsby was TrumpyCane's point, he was also average at best against Iowa State

His schedule is also a joke, can't be a coincidence the in the 3 games against good opponents he's had a TO in 2/3 games

People think every athletic qb can learn to be a good passer, or every qb playing behind a bad oline is way more than the stats say. Same **** people tried to do with Milroe before they actually watched him against Michigan.

You could throw on Ward’s tape at Wazzu and see the passing ability despite the bad offensive line. Sellers can’t ******* throw the ball. I couldn’t care less if his stats are good or bad, watch him play.
This is how I feel.. Yea he is strong and can run but he is a 60%-ish passer. Dawson is on record of he dont like inaccurate QBs and he cant develop that.. Unless we are going to some type of Meyer/mullen type offense it might not be the best fit..

There will be other options available that fit better and can also run if need be..

I'm not sold on Seller's as a passer, but right now Miami's offense isn't asking a whole lot of its passing game. If this is the offense, Miami needs a legit athlete at QB. If Sellers pulls the ball on that Marty Brown run into a 10 man box, its a house call.

I'd rather go get a legit passer, but if the gameplan isn't going to make the most of it, what is the point?

We would be lucky to land this kid. Hope it happens. Also hope Beamer goes to VT so it increases our shot at landing him

Actually ya I hope they break the bank for him. That ensuing **** show of an offense and season would hopefully be enough to get Mario the **** up outta here

McShay is not saying there's a connection- he is taling about what he saw on twitter/x re: "word on the street" connecting Miami and Sellers. Anything is possible, but I don't think our staff is telegraphing this so transparently. It's more likely that "word on the street" means some guy was sitting on his throne having his morning constitutional thinking of landing spots if Lanorris were to transfer,
I would not doubt that the initial rumor came from the canesinsight podcast a few weeks ago that then Mike Ryan added a bit of fuel to a few pods later.

Mario couldn’t get to the playoff with Cam Ward, but he will with Sellers? We keep breaking the bank on portal QB’s and what has it gotten us? I’m not totally opposed to doing it again, but it has to be the right guy. I don’t know why people are so infatuated with Sellers…dude is the definition of mid.

At least he’s making the right read……. Right?!

It’s really strange how that whole “Miami is after another portal QB” thing has taken off?
My question is why, and I don’t mean from here, but nationally?

Anyone saying they don't want Sellers is just looking at stats and doesn't realize that South Carolina has an FCS offensive line and a track star leading the wide receiver corp.
Sellers is basically Anthony Richardson 2.0

You can’t just ignore the stats. I’m not really big on breaking the bank for a guy who has had poor production, just because he runs far and throws far. Not sure I’d want to hitch my career to that if I’m Mario either

The fact that it's leaking this early leads me to believe it's not going to happen.

We're usually not this preemptive with offseason roster moves. We normally wait until the season is over, Bowl game is played & the 2nd NSD before we really put our focus on Portal additions.

This sounds like an NIL agent putting feelers out there to up the ante for a renegotiation come December-January.

Just my guess though.
That's exactly what this is. Feelers. I'm with you about it leaking too early. That's pretty sketch.

LaNorris is gonna hit the portal though. I heard that there's interest in Miami from his camp, but I have no idea if that feeling is mutual.

I would be shocked if he returns to SC at this point. They're too big of a **** show. As bad he's been this year, he's gonna get paid by somebody.

Few thoughts:

1. Cam Ward aint walking through that door anytime soon. I think Cam really distorted people's expectations as what to expect from the portal. Sellers has immense upside and also has risk.

2. Ive watched USCe a few times. Sellers supporting cast is TERRIBLE.

3. Sellers would be a dam fool to come play in this offense. He needs space and pace. Not this slow condensed ****. Its truly a miracle Cam made this work. Sellers plugged into SMU type offense would kill it.
