Lane...

Just put it like this, forget that he's Kiffin.....You have the opportunity to hire an offensive guru, that's a beast recruiter with head coaching experience in the NFL, SEC, Pac12, was mentored by Carroll and Saban, is not yet 40 and just happens to be confident as *****. Would you not want that guy to coach Miami?

All those qualities.....and hes a friggin OC

For Alabama, which is almost equal to being a head coach anywhere else. Everybody know Saban pretty much groom future head coaches. Kiffin being one that has already experienced alot and got all the new coach mistakes out of his system. I've provided many reasons why Kiffin would be a perfect fit. Fans keep saying that he would be a bad fit but don't really provide any reason why. Just say he is a pompous prick based on interaction when he was in his twenties. Saying he's a bad HC, but not really providing any reasons why. Saying he failed everywhere he coached but actually the only place he had a losing record at was the Raiders, in his first season. Can somebody really give a good reason why he wouldn't be a great hire rather than just saying he's bad? Actually don't worry about, i'm sure just like with every other subject a year from now people are going to be speaking a different tone.
Its babblings like this that cause Miami to be where its at. Gambling on people you have to sell. Tired of it, kiffin is not a gamble to take now. He has been a head coach 3 different times and he didn't cut it. Why? Because he not there anymore. Its more to head coaching than calling plays.

I think at this point the only way Miami steals some buzz from Jimbo at FSU and gets some momentum is to hire a coach with some kind of name and excitement. Butch Davis would do this. However, if we don't get him there are only a few others that would. Kiffin is one and recruiting would swing in our favor for once. With the right defensive staff, he'd be worth the risk if we miss out on our top 2-3 coaches.

I provided reasons why Kiffin would be a good option. You babbled and then said the reason why he didn't cut it, because "he not there anymore". Saban's no longer on the Dolphins, Carroll got fired by the Patriots, Gruden got fired by the Bucs. Not to say that Kiffin is even close to being in the same league as the names I just mentioned but "he not there anymore" doesn't determine his capability of being a successful HC at Miami. Just my opinion...

Which one of them got pretty much fired from 3 gigs? Lane Kiffin learnt nothing from his previous hc jobs. He was toxic at USC when he left. Not good.

The Lane haters always claiming It would be so dumb but based off of what? Dude was hired to coach the Raiders at age 31. THE RAIDERS! With Al Davis's micromanaging ***. Anybody would've been doomed for failure. Especially a young talent unwilling to be somebody's puppet. Only allowed one and a quarter season to prove himself after falling out of favor with Al Davis, just like almost every coach he hired. People forget Davis traded Gruden. Lane was successful at TN. Their record improved and the fans were ****ed when he threw the deuces. But if your dream job become available, wouldn't you take it? Then when he coached at USC, they were on probation. Seasons with 70 or less players instead of 85. Top players leaving like free agency, but still no losing season. Young talent with no depth.

It's a reason that he has been offered top jobs at such a young age, the dude is talented. He made some bad decisions, which most young people do which put him in positions that were difficult to be successful in. He should've stayed at Tn. He learned from some of the best, Carroll and Saban. He has a large amount of experience and he ain't even 40 yet. Everybody knows he's in a league of his own coaching offense, he's a beast recruiter and he hires an elite staff. He would kill in Miami.

Tennessee went from 5-7 to 7-6, great turnaround

Probation.. Miami was playing on loss of scholarships as well, hope you use that excuse with Golden as well

Dude sucks and hasn't won anywhere and I don't want another experiment here. If Miami is going to hire someone hire a winner not some guy who has lost everywhere he's been and if not for his daddy would have never even gotten the start in his coaching career that he got

I rather have his wife coach us

You realize the penalties USC suffered were WAY worse than what Miami suffered USC had no depth what so ever under Kiffiin and still doesn't have the depth it needs under Stark. Kiffin Never used that as a excuse for when he loss like Golden has, he had to take in like 15 to 18 players in each class he recruited.

Which of them wouldn't have gotten fired from the Raiders? Well Gruden got traded from them. Kiffin left TN for USC. USC was toxic, Kiffin was the scapegoat. Sarkisian will be gone soon too. Only situation Kiffin was in position to be successful in was TN. Should've stayed but oh well.

5-7 to 7-6 in his first season in the SEC. That's pretty good. And the way he was recruiting, the future for TN was looking up. Why you think they were so ****ed dude left. Miami 's loss of scholarships can't compare to USC's. Only place where he lost at was at Oakland like everybody else who coach them. Plus he only had one and a quarter season to prove himself, at age 31. Monte coached D. Lane got his opportunities because he proved worthy of them as a talented young offensive mind. Some situations were no win situations but he didn't fail. Just made some bad decisions.

35 and 21 as a college coach. Never finished under 3rd in a division. The one time he finished 3rd was his first season at USC. His first and only season at TN, he finished second in the SEC east.

You're lauding him for his recruiting at Tennessee. Do you realize how many of those recruits git kicked out or quit? An insane amount.

I don't judge any coach on what he did in Oak, that's coaches ****. Only thing that would be disturbing is his decision making or sanity for taking that job.

If you guys actually watched USC or paid attention to college football and not just idolizing the fake swashbuckling new corches you'd realize USC got dramatically better the minute Haden drop kicked *****in.

Even Orgeron is a better HC than *****in, and he proved it. Not many clamoring for him because he's fat. Not crush worthy.

kIFFIN ISNT EVEN A GOOD OC..YALL FOOLS SMOKING...

hE SUCKS....

He coached at USC...with a laundry list of 5 star and nfl guys...and now at bama...where he has beast all over and his offense looks rinky dink as ****...their qb plays back yard ball....he doesnt know when to be run oriented,

what exactly does he do to impress people?..Other than his wife....and....

Nick Saban coaches d...and micro manages that.....he could give two sh*ts about offense..and likely stays out of their way so he aint learning sh*t from saban's supposed special powers.lol

If *****in was fat and bald these dudes wouldn't be all lathered up over him. These dudes on here get these homoerotic crushes on the young cool swashbuckling coaches all the time. They were all worked up over Kingsbury before he went 4-8 this year.

Nah chise, it isn't just that. They also know NOTHING about football so they just repeat drivel they hear from al golden interviews and Espn. The same guys saying lane Kiffin should coach here, are the same guys who say the seniors aren't playing with enough heart, golden is a great coach, and the cloud stopped us from out recruiting every team we play but fsu. If Espn never hopped on kingsbury/kiffens nuts then we wouldn't even hear there names

He brought in a top 10 class. If they turned out to be idiots afterwards thats no knock on him. I understand coaches have to evaluate character as well but look what happened when Miami passed on Gerrod Holliman. Kiffin Took Bryce Brown from us. He's always been recognized as a beast of a recruiter so that aspect is without question.

Due to his beef with AL Davis he wasn't allowed the opportunity to prove he was worthy of being traded. Gruden was traded after 4 season, Kiffin was given a season and a quarter.

Homie I lived in Pasadena Ca. before moving to Georgia. My top three favorite teams in order is 1. Miami 2. USC 3. UGA. I follow all three, Miami more than the other two but i'm very familiar with USC as a whole. Sarkisian or Orgeron would've faired the same or worse outcome if they received the job instead of Kiffin at that time. The situation was toxic and is still on recovery mode, hopefully Sarkisian last.

We now have idiots on here that are defending the corching abilities of Qiffin.

comical

Idiots? I'm sure i'm going to regret this but oh well, its a slow day at work and i'm bored. Whats your reason for calling those that would welcome the hiring of Kiffin idiots?

Some of you are legit retarded. Lane Kiffin? You are suffering through the coaching of Al Golden and you want to bring in a proven loser in Lane Kiffin?

Some of you are dumb as ****.

The SC team quit on Lane. Period. They quit. Nobody was sad to see him go.

All the justifications for Lane are excuses for why he sucked. That's a huge red flag. Wouldn't it be better to get someone who's been empirically good at his job?

Ding Ding Ding.....finally somebody provided a legitimate reason. Good job sir. The team quit on Lane. Thats speculation based off of rumors at the time but its better than what has been provided so far in this thread. Yes...definitely get somebody thats good at his job. A successful candidate as a coach would be somebody thats confident...great talent evaluator and recruiter....somebody that can develop his players....somebody that can manage or either coach one side of the ball at a high level...somebody that can put together a great staff....and somebody with great mentors. Which of those qualities does Kiffin not possess?
