FairIt’s not absurd to ask in my opinion. It was the right thing to do as they have a playoff birth. The petulant response is another thing though.

Coordinators, going back to Mark Richt at FSU, have coached after being hired by another school. Not apples to apples, but it’s certainly not absurd of him to ask. It’s not absurd to ask in my opinion. pre portal, leaving for a promotion in another conference.Coordinators, going back to Mark Richt at FSU, have coached after being hired by another school. Not apples to apples, but it’s certainly not absurd of him to ask.
Nah they absolutely did the right thing.I think he did the right thing offering to stay through the playoffs and Ole Miss made their decision and told him to leave immediately so that’s on them. His reaction is childish but so is theirs but I don’t know all the details of what was said so all I know is he took a better job opportunity and offered to finish out his shift and they kicked him out.
The dude is what he is. He’s a good ball coach but he’s shady and people know he’s shady so if they hire him they shouldn’t be so shocked when it falls out. People in this thread have made some good points. He’s left every place he’s been on bad terms so I tend to think he’s probably just a ****bag as a human and there’s nothing shocking to me. They all should know what the deal is hiring him.Fair
Blue Lot or Titanic? Either way we need to sell tickets - all proceeds going to Canes Connection.
Bruh, you came at me. I told you where to find me. So you can show or shut the **** up
Yup. I think he would have had us in the playoffs last year and this year so I’d take him but I know it’s only a matter of time before he bolts. He’s a mercenary.Y'all wanted him here.... and I bet alot of Y'all still do smh
Yes, actually. I rather be where we are now than have someone build something up to burn it down on the way out the door. His team is in the playoffs, and he just left. Lane gives zero ***** about any but himself. Not a fan of Mario when we hired him, but he has improved our program and won't do what Lane did when or if he ever goes.So you preferred the *** whoopings we took the first two years of Mario ...
He would’ve left here with 4 ACC Championships and #6……….He would **** in our faces and ask us how it tastes for 9-10 wins
Not surprised so many Miami fans wanted him
It’s a livelihood to him. His primary responsibility in life is his family. He determined this to be a better future and an opportunity he couldn’t pass up so he absolutely should take it if that’s what he values. He’s a coach in the SEC so he’s not supposed to take a way higher level SEC job because it’s in the same conference??? He offered to stay though the season’s conclusion, they declined, he should just go.Nah they absolutely did the right thing.
You want to coach a rival - especially during a historic Playoff run?

the crazy part is...if u watched his documentary on espn...he was all but gone to auburn a few back and the daughter save that one......It’s a livelihood to him. This is false. He did not quit right before the playoffs. He accepted another job opportunity before the playoffs but offered to finish through completion and they said no. Ole Miss isn’t a victim and neither is Lane. He’s quitting right before a playoff run.
Name the last time a college football head coach quit on a playoff team right before the playoffs start.
And no, this is not the same as coaches quitting before minor bowl games.
He's a great offensive coach and we would have been fireworks. But we would have lost the exact wrong games, at the exact wrong time, and never won anything. This would have included an 11-1 season where tiebreakers and results out of our control resulted in us missing both the conference title game and the CFP.For all of yall comparing us to ole miss...if Lane Kiffin came here and 6 years later may have been leaving...he would of been leaving because we won a MNC. lol
Thoughts?.
There’s nothing shocking here and I don’t judge this man for this like a lot of these guys I’m seeing in here do. He has a right to be offered a better job opportunity and accept it. I respect that he offered to finish the playoff run through conclusion. They said no. He should just go graciously at that point which he didn’t.the crazy part is...if u watched his documentary on espn...he was all but gone to auburn a few back and the daughter save that one......
Ole Miss never was dudes forever home that was quite obvious.
11-1 miami gets into the playoff every time i think. He's a great offensive coach and we would have been fireworks. But we would have lost the exact wrong games, at the exact wrong time, and never won anything. This would have included an 11-1 season where tiebreakers and results out of our control resulted in us missing both the conference title game and the CFP.
This is inarguably the truth.
No but he has every right to take a better job opportunity whenever it comes along. He’s also a far more unique component to Ole Miss than he would be in your corporate example but whatever - he has a right to take the job and ole Miss has a right to move on immediately. For the Kiffin Kucks, try this perspective.
A major corporation is having their best year ever. The key executive who is mostly responsible for this success is going to leave right before the most profitable 4th quarter of the year. And leave for a rival corporation. He offers to stay on through the remainder of the year, but still wants the ability to leave, along with a good number of other key personnel, taking them to the rival company.
Would you seriously expect the Board of Directors to agree?
No one wants him. He isn't going anywhere. Our most successful coaches have moved on. So they all gave zero ***** because they took what they perceived to be a better opportunity?Yes, actually. I rather be where we are now than have someone build something up to burn it down on the way out the door. His team is in the playoffs, and he just left. Lane gives zero ***** about any but himself. I'll give you last year EVEN THOUGH our failures were pretty much Guidry's fault.... but THIS year, were not in the playoffs because BECK decided to go [maude edit: deleted word that offends special needs kids’ parents] for 1 game... and then that SMU game, you can just blame whoever you want.Yup. I think he would have had us in the playoffs last year and this year so I’d take him but I know it’s only a matter of time before he bolts. He’s a mercenary.
The past two years have demonstrated with irrefragable clarity that, whatever forces must conspire to ensure Miami walks away with nothing, will absolutely coalesce. The universe would find a way to **** us with a jagged plunger.11-1 miami gets into the playoff every time i think.
