This is the start of Max pushing his matchup into McCoy. McCoy gets pushed back, a tad bit, yet still holds his own. He doesn’t get pushed back because he can’t hold his own, he gets pushed back because the defender’s right hand is illegally attached to McCoy’s facemask on the play..

Doesn't look to me like its a facemask. He was getting walked into the QB with no sign of anchoring before the second defender ran into him. Basically everyone on the line lost this rep or got pushed into Mensah's lap. It was was the worst rep of the night for the O line
 
Just link play from full game (ACC didnt get first qtr because president spoke in some markets and I guess they couldnt get from ESPN lol)

On that play there was no stunting, RR takes the DT on while SJ stands between RR and Samson, doing completely nothing. SJ probably should have attacked with RR on the DT, and when the LB made his move, RR could've moved to him or at least got a hand on him. Fletcher still should've taken on the block and instead he completely walked away.

No exotic pressures whatsoever. They just bring 4, and we can’t handle that with 6 guys. Fletcher does a good job helping out SJ but RR — who again — just completely misses out on even touching a solo defender this snap. I don’t understand how indecisive he is when he literally controls the start of the action.

absolutely ridiculous...

4 rushers and only 2 guys engaged in blocking 3 of them...' the other 3 OL doing nothing.... absolutely insane...

Disagree on the bolded. The second defender touches him in between 1 to 2 seconds after the snap.

You are right about the no facemask. Defenders grabs at his collar. Disagree on everyone losing the rep because Samson did well; and i think Mensah would’ve been fine from McCoy’s side if RR and Max double team the interior rusher.

There was an LB to the putside of the guy Samson blocked. So SJ didnt do anything wrong, bc if the LB comes in, SJ was supposed to take Samsons guy. So he basically was there to make sure Samson and RR dont get beat towards him.

I know the blard hates SJ, but this one isnt on him. Idk what Mark was doing tbh. That seemed like a clear pickup for him. Or RR and him switch responsibilities.

100% he showed improvement in our last game, yes, the competition wasn’t great, but that’s not his issue, it was mental errors and he cut them down the last game. He’s a powerhouse with really long arms, and when he gets his hands on you, he doesn’t lose the rep, he just needs to keep making the correct decisions out there and not allowing a mental error to take him out of the play. I think SJ’s gonna be one of our better guards this year once those things get cleaned up.
