Lamar Thomas slurpers ... get yo *** in here!

He has underwhelmed as a coach . I want him no where near this program. Also people in kentucky also say he is an asshat.

Would welcome him back with open arms.

A lot of former players had an axe to grind with that fat doofus Al Golden.

True, but they were going after Golden directly. Thomas was recruiting for Louisville. You don't publicly embarrass your alma mater to make a cheap point with recruits.

There's a lot of pressure to do anything that gets recruits, but taking a shot at your alma mater is bullsht. Any of the other coaches could have tweeted that, but he made the decision to do it himself. If I were sure we'd win a NC with him on the staff I'd take him in a second, I'm not that proud. But since we'd never know that, fck him.

not a classy move by him but he is ALL cane, he has 2 championship rings he wears on his middle fingers. He is from Ocala (not far from turdsville). I met him and apparently **** fans would give him **** for not going to Turdsville. When people ask him why he went to Miami instead, he'd flick them off with rings on each finger.

you don't think that richt negatively recruited against miami while he was at uga?

get out of your feelings.

15 years at FSU and 15 years at UGA and he never said a negatively word publicly against his alma mater.

This. There is a huge difference between saying something behind closed doors to lure recruits away and blasting it on Twitter to anyone dumb enough to follow you. Lamar was in his feelings for perceived disrespect and unfair treatment and ended up spitting on the U (and specifically, the fanbase). Personally, I don't want him here -- have fun coaching up borderline 3*/2* dudes at an $ec basketball school.

Guy basically got fired for loving the Canes too much on that FIU night. But yeah that's a bad look, I remember that. Not sure if I take away his Cane card for it, he loves Miami.

Still don't get why weirdos on a message board that never played a down think they are in charge of these mythical cane cards.

You've already lost the argument in many of our eyes if your position ever involves the phrase ".....but he really is a Cane at heart" or "He did what anyone would do...." or "Yeah, but I met him at a Fuddruckers in Orlando in 2009 and he was reppin' the Canes."

Specific to Lamar, his transgression(s) was/were seemingly not as frequent or egregious as some other frauds that draw our consistent ire BUT if you're going to cross the bridge into clowning Miami publicly for personal gain then a lot of us aren't going to bust out the pom-poms for you to come "home".

After the 10th game in 1991, Lamar walked up to a TV camera.
Pulled off his towel,," FSU, Its Time." scrolled in magic marker.

Still get goose bumps thinking about it..

I'm all for second chances but in fairness Richt wasn't "publicly" bashing Miami in recruiting, if he had something bad to say he did it behind closed doors and directly to the recruit not out for the entire fan base and former team mates/alumni to bare witness too

For those that never knew or somehow forgot....

Louisville’s Lamar Thomas takes shot at alma mater Miami Hurricanes | Canes Watch

Next person that suggests this prick for any role EVER at the University of Miami should punch their own face until they black out.

If you are going to kill him for this..make sure you also are fair and point out that he repped the Canes big time after we won either the FSU or the Vtech game on social media. It was one or the other.

LCE had a thread where he would post reactions from former players and he took a pic rocking a UM jersey or jacket and said he would always rep the U.

And I forgive any and everything bad anyone did to us during the "Shannon/Golden" era. They get a pardon from me. We were a joke and a disgrace. Those are years I want to forget ever happened.

So what your saying is he's basically a bandwagon alumn. Trashes us when we're losing and reps us when we're winning. In both cases he was a coach at another power 5 school and this year they were after Jarren Williams so it's not like we weren't both after some of the same recruits. Maybe he realized that he HAD lifetime support from the canes and he put that in jepardy for a recruit that probably didn't sign with him for a school that sent him packing aka no loyalty.

As a kid growing up during the 80s and 90s, to me Lamar Thomas was the essence of a Miami Hurricane and the perfect representative of those teams - someone who was faster and more athletic than the other teams, and brash enough to let everyone know that the thought he was faster and more athletic because he was a Cane.

Because Lamar was the essence of the 80s and 90s Canes, it was more painful to see him publicly trash the school about something that a Miami player and fan understands uniquely - that Miami wasn't and isn't about having the biggest crowds. That's the type of insult that Gators or Seminoles level at Miami, not something that a former Cane should be talking sh#t about.

I get that most guys, when they go into coaching, won't be able to coach at their alma mater and therefore will have to recruit against their alma mater. But, many guys are able to do so without publicly trashing their alma mater for something as stupid as crowd size. It's great that Lamar is all Cane at heart now, but even though he was someone who represented everything about the teams I grew up on, I have a hard time with how he handled himself when he wasn't here.

LT is a good coach, and I know he'd love the opportunity if it ever came his way. He reps the U hard.
