Lamar Miller vs Trent Richardson in college

In COLLEGE..hands down Richardson...not even close...in COLLEGE Rich was the best back I've seen since AP...and I am not the only one who will or has said that...Miller real good...just not as dominant....BUTTTT with Bamas line...and I am guessing that is your real question as Henry, Ingram, yeldon, Rich all have been 5* production but NFL production not quite what was expected

Miller. Easily.

Trent has proven he has no wiggle or vision. At Bama he was getting full heads of steam and sometimes not seeing first contact until 5-8 yards into the second level. If Miller was on that Bama team, his explosion combined with the massive chunks of daylight he would've been given -- it would've been a **** of a show.

Miller used to find little creases and take them to the house. Imagine what he'd do behind Bama's line...2,000 yards on deck

Exactly, and homers will be homers round here.

All things being equal, that is to say, Miami had the same OL and so did Bama...you take Richardson all day long.

Miami fans love home run hitters, even when the home run hitters can't even find much a lane to run through.

Richardson, in college at least, was a guaranteed 1st down on 3rd and short...while we would run east / west and lose a yard. He would literally fall forward and gain 4 yards. That's the type of back that would compliment the shifty home run types we always have.

Granted, Bama's OL made him look good at times too...but I think those bruisers may be more important to an average OL.

I always wonder what could have been had Lamar Miller stayed one more year and it would have been him and a freshman Duke Johnson in the backfield.

this. same reason i'm not buying the derrick henry hype. watch his film and on all of his big plays he's running through huge holes and barely getting touched even downfield.

Miller still did pretty good while at Miami, even though his collegiate career wasn't as impressive as Richardson's. However, it looks like you could've put most backs behind that line and they'd look like rock stars. Also, Miller wasn't fortunate to have a good S&C program in place at Miami, while Richardson got the benefit of world class S&C (where he essentially maxed out his physical gifts). As we saw at the next level, Richardson lacks vision to identify open lanes as it's evident in nearly every running play at the next level. Outside of Bama's o-line, I don't see him having that much success on an average college offensive line.

Give me Miller, and that's not homerism talking.

The problem with most Bama RB is they have no moves at all. They are completely downhill runners who have to have a great OL. For the love of god, how can you compare Richardson to Peterson. It's not even close. Peterson was a badass in college. He had power, he had moves. Richardson just had power and I doubt he runs nearly as vicious as Peterson.

Bama makes RBs look great. Just keep watching, Lacy is taking a fall now. Yeldon will be exposed in time. Yeldon is not that good. He's the softest power runner I've seen in awhile (Gus Edwards soft - how can you be Gus the Bus and get stood up at the goalline every time. ). He only gets yards, because he gets lots of carries, but eventually people will realize he's not that great. Look at Henry. I actually think Henry is good, but he should not win the Heisman. The guys has more carries than anyone else in CFB and it's not close. Cook is a far better player than Henry imo.

Miller is the better back but I wonder how well he would have held up in the SEC. On one hand I feel like he'd rush for 2000+ behind Bama's OL but on the other hand I could see him getting smashed and hurt.

Richardson in College, Miller now. Lamar has improved a ton since he entered the NFL. When the dolphins signed Moereno and it looked like he was going to take over(until injury). Lamar started running sooo much harder. But in college and his first year in the NFL he could be tackled with one arm sometimes.

Maybe it was magic??

OR

Maybe it was he played behind the best OL with the best S&C program on earth, led by the best college HC maybe ever, while pumping roids?

People still don't understand how team sports work.

Richardson takes too much contact. He could get away with it in college, but the NFL is a different animal.

Miller has more burst and better vision.
