On3 LSU Recruiting analyst - Shea Dixon
Baton Rouge 5-star ATH (OL/DL) Lamar Brown has made official visits each weekend for the past few weeks, and the stretch of Miami, Texas, and - this past weekend - Texas A&M.
Each time, he talked up the programs a ton during his trip and afterwards. He's also called LSU his leader in the past few months. As l've said this offseason, his goal was always to take visits, and he has clearly soaked in the process with the visits he's able to make. We've all talked about it, but U-High recruits who attend high school on LSU's campus are around LSU Football so often that they really enjoy getting out and seeing different colleges, and the red carpet gets rolled out on the official visit weekends for 5-stars like Brown.
Now, the news of Sunday evening was Brown telling On3's Hayes Fawcett he no longer plans to make an LSU official visit this coming weekend. The goal for Texas A&M is to get him back to College Station and keep him from making the weekend visit to LSU.
Will his decision stick through week's end? Based off conversations with sources on a number of sides, and just a sense for how things play out for in-state targets that are priority guys for LSU, I would lean that he does end up visiting
LSU this weekend.
Mind you, it's the biggest official visit weekend of the summer for LSU with multiple 5-stars and a lot of the top remaining targets for the Tigers. It's also the Bayou Splash weekend on Saturday, which will bring tons of unofficial visitors to campus.
And some notable ones, at that (I'll have more on that on Monday).
Let's see how the week plays out. If he doesn't visit LSU and cancels it complete to go back to College Station, then it's telling. But knowing how recruiting is, I am going to wait and see how the week unfolds as LSU and Texas A&M staffs both have talks with Lamar and his camp.
