Kyle Shanahan

Yes, Saban was just above .500 his first four seasons. So was the previous coach for the previous four seasons. Saban wasn’t terrible. He won a fair share of games against Top 10 teams, including over Notre Dame, Michigan and Ohio State. He built them up, only for the next coach to tank.

MSU has always been a difficult place to recruit and win. This is why D’Antonio is so well regarded.

His record at LSU wasn’t much different. 8-5 year 1, with a loss to UAB included. Spurrier beat Saban’s *** twice, but 28+ both times. 8-5 record Year 3 as well.

Maybe what Saban learned was he needed to have the best players.

Please google MSU at the time Saban took over.
Then research LSU before Saban.

Wow. Use the internet, it can be a useful resource.

I've always enjoyed your posts Cyrez and agree with virtually everything above. But, this offseason will tell me a lot about who Manny is and what he will become. I'll give him a bogey for this coaching staff because it's his first shot being a HC and maybe even he didn't realize how big this was, but if there aren't MAJOR changes from top to bottom after this season is over, he won't get a second chance from me or many of the other die hard fans. It will go downhill quick next year.

100% agree. I expect:

-Butch Barry to be fired
-Baker to be fired or stripped of playcalling
-Patke to be reassigned or fired
-ST assistance in some form to be brought in

By the time Manny gets to year three I expect things to be pretty bad around these parts.

Why on Patke? B/c of Bubba? Nah. You can't pin a mental headcase on him. Besides, every other facet of STs is improved over last year.

Did you read my post? MSU was bad for for several year under Perles. Saban built them up. And tanked under Bobby Williams took over when Saban bolted. And of course LSU wasn’t very good when they hired Saban. He built them up as well. And then bolted.

We’ll leave it you to quote stats off the Internet and state the obvious.

I'm a 49ers fan. He was hot garbage in year 1 and look at the performance his team just put on MNF. To be frank, he was hot garbage in year 2 as well but has the team shining in year 3.

Manny has failed miserably this year thus far but we're a decent kicker from being undefeated or at worst 4-1. Think about that for a second.

Changes need to be made: Butch Barry who is a joke and this is on Diaz because he let Enos hand pick him from his CMU days. But this is Manny's first year ever as a HC and I think it would be prudent to reserve judgment on him at least until year 2. And when I say reserve judgment, I'm not saying avoiding being critical bc like I just said, Manny's looked like a HC way in over his head.

However, is he capable of learning and bettering himself and his team? I still think so. Only time will tell.
Dude you can't compare.

The 49ers were garbage his first two years, not Shanahan

He’s been one of the most respected offensive minds in the NFL for years

You left out a lot about MSU before he got there. The sanctions, no winning records for the prior 4 seasons etc.

As for LSU, they were atrocious. He won more games in his first season than the prior two combined. He won the conference in his second season, see when the last the LSU won before that.

I don’t recall a need for a lengthy defense of Nick Saban.
