No, Mario did not ruin Herbert. But we never saw an explosive offense at Oregon. We saw an offense focused on a strong run game that can control the clock and QBs that are game managers. We've never really seen Mario produce elite skill players. We're getting early glimpses of the same here and I'm worried we see a stale offense that fails to consistently put up points in a sport that favors elite offenses. Which leads me to...

4. Stubbornness.
If there's one common trait we see from one failed coach to the next, it's their stubbornness. Their unwillingness to change their approach. Golden with Doritos. Richt with his outdated offensive system. Manny with his reluctance to hire an experienced DC and hand the reigns over to him. Will we see Mario do the same? If offense/defense continues to struggle will he adapt his approach or stick with what he's got?

I won’t say stubbornness, right now, b/c we just tossed the rock an absurd amount of 57 times.

It’s been only 5 games. Also, I’m not really in to “explosive” offenses vs. effective offenses. The Question will be, can Mario run an efficient offense moving fwd. I will say, my other criticism would be how we’ve handled the RZ; that’s definitely not efficient. Getting us there w/o punching it cannot continue on.
 
Call me Krazy but I think we go on a little run.

Somehow put the blown coverages to an end
Continue to spread the ball out and emphasize TVD's arm
Use that to your advantage to open up the box and get some semblance of a running game back.

That's enough to go on a run like the end of last season against this schedule.

The went completely away from 12 personel. (tons of 10 and 11)
Less check with me, more tempo. (only time the offense stalled is when they didn't.
Actually used the RPO.
Stretched the field vertically or attempted to.
Oh and actually threw the ball a ton and didn't force run as much.

I'll let the more advanced X and O's guys input on passing concepts but that's just what I noticed live.

I'm assuming that since Mario isn't going anywhere for a minimum of 6-7 years that everyone would be riding with him cause if you ain't

half these people are miserable cry babies. I expect him to be rolling in 2024. He's proven to be able to turn things around in his previous coaching stops at FIU and Oregon. just hope the fools on here don't stick around. If they do they need to keep that same energy when we are winning.

Set their @$$es up for failure. My only issues w/ Mario have been two things:

1. Off season - he should’ve at that portal alive. However, in his defense, Riley & SC was doing a lot of back door channeling (allegedly) b4 it became official. Kids were on flip watch & immediate transfers began to ensue. Coincidence??? Hmmmm.

2. Clock mgmt has been god awful. MTSU upset me from an effort & defensive standpoint, but A&M upset me from a clock mgmt standpoint. UNC, we simply beat ourselves.

Regardless, every HC coming to a new situation deserves two yrs. If we see the same shenanigans next yr, then worry should set in.

he may own the worst clock management decision EVER in a 'Canes game, when he called a timeout 2 seconds before the 1st quarter was going to end.
