“I really like what they said about (potential) impact I can have and playing early,” Barnes told CaneSport. “That’s a really big thing for me. I feel like me playing early could be a really big deal. Playing as a freshman is one of my goals. We talked about me getting on the field in any way possible. I feel like that’s a really big deal.”

“They feel like I have position flexibility with me being pretty versatile and they feel like they can use me early, which is a big thing for me in my recruiting process,” Barnes said. “I really want to go to a school where I can play early and make an impact. They’ve been telling my dad that they think with my speed and size that I can be moved around that I can be moved around to get on the field all the time, so I think that’s a really big deal to me.”

Barnes said he’s looking at committing later this summer “whenever me and my parents feel it’s best.”

Miami has another big visit weekend set up as it continues to push for a top 5 class. Here is the latest I am hearing:

- The Canes are being aggressive in prioritizing top local talent. WR Calvin Russell (Northwestern) visits this weekend and is a major priority regardless of what happens with other top targets. The same is true for next week's visitor, WR Jasen Lopez (Chaminade)- I don't believe he is an either/or with WR Vance Spafford (Orange County, CA) and the Canes want him badly. I continue to like the Canes for elite RB Derrek Cooper...

The Bank is back open. Here's the latest as Miami heads into its final official visit weekend:

- The Canes have made progress with several key targets. I like Miami for Top 10 DT James Johnson (Northwestern). War daddy DTs are the most valuable commodity in college football and Johnson would be a hugely impactful addition.

- I also like Miami for Top 10 TE Israel Briggs (Visalia, CA). While LSU's mods questioned whether he would play WR or TE, I'm told the staff is comfortable with his frame as a detached TE in our offense. He announces next Tuesday.

This is one that seemed like backup plan whole way? Maybe for Jennings. Not sure. Was wondering if he could play safety.
