Kliff Kingsbury- Disaster Averted?

I'm beginning to think Manny is holding onto releasing the name of our new OC so the idiot Jets don't immediately want to interview him.

The press conference where Woody Johnson introduces Frank Ponce in New York would be firrrrrre.

"This is the man we believe can finally topple Belichick and the Pats...."

Wow. Even I didn't envision this turning into as much as a clusterf*ck. Let's say he doesn't take/get an NFL job and stays at USC. Now let's say their offense looks good but they still suck and Helton gets canned. Swann ain't making Kingsbury the interim now or keeping him as HC- if Kingsbury wants to stay in college at that point.

So this whole deal on Kingsbury's end is becoming even less of a winning deal. Watch him bolt now like Jeff Jagodzinski did.

Lynn Swann is an intelligent dude but this is absolutely an example of the risk in hiring a completely inexperienced AD.

This is another way the college game is changing. Schools have always hired staff away from other programs, but hiring someone weeks after that coach took a job seems new territory the last few seasons. I might be wrong. I’m glad to see USC try and fight back.

Agreed but I'm also betting USC thought they were immune from him looking so quick too. They probably still have an inflated sense of self-worth.

Agree. I live in LA and sick of the ‘We are SC’ chants. Especially when they suck.

Kliff is about to resign

His buyout is supposedly very low. Small enough that he wouldn't pause in paying it himself.

This is comical in that I can only imagine the meltdown around here if this was happening to us right now. Our inability to have nice things for long actually surprises me that it isn't him leaving here after 3 weeks.

I don't necessarily disagree but there has to be some concern that Helton could be a dead man walking no matter what and a guy like Kingsbury has higher stock (rightly or wrongly) and more seemingly annual options than a guy like Fedora. One would think anyone coming to Miami at least knows that Manny is here for an absolute minimum of 2 years.

I would agree Helton may be a dead man walking this yr

Jagoffzinski didn’t bolt. He got fired. Funny thing is he wound up as Tampa’s OC and got fired in preseason because he couldn’t think quickly enough. Then he wound up on a precipitous fall down the coaching ladder.

Watch Adam Gase will win with his next job. The Dolphins roster had every expert predicting them to be last in the league. He can coach but he shouldn't manage the roster

Good mind for an offensive coordinator but not a good head coach and shouldn’t be in charge of rosters

Just read on multiple sites that he may resign at USC due to them blocking him from interviewing with NFL teams for head coaching vacancies.
The fact that there’s even an NFL rule that they have to ask for permission is crazy. But if he did step down, and didn’t get the job for any HC opportunities, maybe we still won’t have an OC and could go after him. I know it won’t happen, but a man can dream lol

I would hold off any hire if I was Manny. You’ll find out if he’s got any interviews anymore real quick.
