Golden was ripped by some last year for pulling scholie from Kirkland if he didn't stop playing games. I guarantee the same posters are saying the opposite this year about Chad Thomas. I'm not sure who is more fickle these south Florida prima donnas who don't stick to their word or some of the posters on here.

Kirkland was not nearly as necessary as Thomas. Thomas is elite, Kirkland was good, but not at that level. Plus Kirkland told both UM and FSU that he was a silent to them. That is playing games rethinking things or making signing day eventful is not.

Different story. Chad probably just recently changed his mind about leaving Miami for Bama. Denver was playing games the whole time and just telling people what they wanted to hear. Chad dont seem like that and has been a class act.

Chad isn't leaving. He want a a little drama. They all do.

The Kirkland situation last year was a disaster. I hope the staff has learned from it.

They misevaluated Kirkland when most amateurs on here could tell you he was a monster. Because they weren't high on him, they forced him to commit on the spot rather than NSD.

Ice Harris, correctly, stood up for his player and said "Why are you giving my All-American an ultimatum when you are waiting for eight other kids on NSD?" The saddest thing is that Kirkland would have been a Cane.

That poor decision by the staff damaged our relationship with the best local program and cost us a freshman All-American player.

Agreed, we messed up big time.

Do you think Chad sticks?

Christ.

I find it hard to have any confidence in this staff. It's not really like Kirkland was a fringe take or anything, his talent was pretty **** evident. And how the **** do you strong arm a kid at such a talent producing school like Booker T? These guys are stupid as all ****.

I'm not defending the staff but if Kirkland was going to be a Cane why didn't he tell them that when they asked?

Can't speak for him, but I believe he wanted to make a signing day decision like Gus, Coley, Grace and all the other kids we were waiting on. Once the offer was pulled, he told people that he was likely going to pick Miami.

Makes sense. No doubt we botched it, was just curious. Wasn't there info out there that Coley told Miami that Kirkland was telling the FSU coaches he was going to FSU? Or was that a rumor?

Would be nice to have him.

The dumb part is we ran well under our scholarship limit this past year, and as of right now can't even use it towards our sanctions. IMHO they were way to conservative about over-signing.

Sorry man, it's on the kid, his family and his coach... It's really simple, commit to the school you like and shut it down... Gambling is for fools!

BS: Kirkland was on the take and our staff was notified. Barrow was sent to Ice to meet with the kid to either commit on the spot or his schollie would be taken away. They told ICE the "stories" that they heard that was "confirmed". What could ICE do? He backed up the kid. Kid has his choice, put up or shut up. The story being circulated is pure BS. That's how it went down.

PS: If we bend over to these kids and coaches in SF we'd be *** raped every NSD. He had his choice, 3 days before NSD, which was commit or GTF out. Kid chose not to commit. If it was me, I would have never put that schollie back on the table. Golden literally bent over and let ICE stoke him just to appease BTW for future recruits.

You need to slow you're roll on the Freshman All-American comments.

Kirkland was 3rd team G in one publication (6 Guards were chosen) and in the major conferences there were probably 20 Freshman that played G that actually played enough minutes to even qualify. He wouldn't have even seen the field on our squad last year.

So, you're saying he was a JAG that wasn't worth a 'ship?
