In the last 20 years only three coordinators won a National Title in their first HC gig.

Larry Coker, Gene Chizik, and Jimbo.

In the case of Chizik and Jimbo, they were both mediocre coaches until they had Heisman winning #1 overall NFL draft QBs. In the case of Coker, he was a team that was considered the most talented team ever assembled. Auburn paid 200K for Cam, and Jimbo has an entire city police force working to keep his stud eligible.

Simple math says that at best, coordinator success rate for winning a title is 15%......those are HORRENDOUS odds.

It's a fucing terrible idea.

This guy is probably the most experienced, quality Coordinator candidate out there. He at least deserves consideration.

Not to mention even bigger and slower. More aggressive that Al's but his defense is built for smashmouth SEC.
