Put Kirby on just about any other team & they’re 8-4, because he’s got nearly 20 5-stars on his roster it makes him look like he’s not a complete redneck goober.

UGA as an institution has won since the Jim Donnan era, Richt had one losing season in 15 years, the program basically recruits itself as a destination school in Georgia & the surrounding South, add on spending nearly $5mill a year in recruiting budget & you get Kirby Dumbass looking like he’s some Supreme coach when in reality he's as regular as Dave Doeren.

This board drools over Kirby like he’s a great coach, but he’s not, he’s just has the benefit of being placed in the conductor seat of the recruiting machine at UGA, you could replace Kirby with another Good Ol’ Boy & they’d have similar success on the trail as Kirby.

If your just basing this off Xs and Os I won’t argue that at all. And I’d wholeheartedly agree if 2016 and 17 didn’t happen..meaning his impact was INSTANT at UGA..they’ve basically been a top 4 program from 2016 (I know they were 8-5 in 16 but u could see what was coming)until now.

The resources are certainly there. But you still have to implement the infrastructure to get the **** off the ground. And from all accounts he’s great in living rooms and really seems like a guy with commanding presence that makes these boosters open their wallets for what the program needs with him at the helm. I think that is critical for any coach. Saban doesn’t get enough credit for that. All fans see is the smug personality.

There’s a lot of pressure at UGA..And in the sec as a whole. That **** can be overwhelming by itself. So I can’t just say coach X could come in there and get UGA going like that. A guy like Doren is PERFECT at NC state. We’ve seen plenty of guys get overwhelmed at big stops even with support and resources ..lastly I’ll say this, we’ve seen guys at elite programs find ways to lose games they shouldn’t..and lose support because of **** beyond the field throughout the years..the dude has to be considered a top 5 HC in America. Definitely one of the best motivators imo. Did you Hear his HT speech vs UF..I was ready to play for his *** lol... but There’s definitely Guys better at the Xs and Os

He’s a high strung rah rah guy & a salesman.

But as an actual coach, very very regular.

IMO the mark of a coach is his ability to produce results when everything isn’t all slanted in their favor & everything isn’t as easy. UGA hasn’t been talent deficient since the 80’s, they have very little competition for local recruits & as a program they’ve always recruited well.

That’s an easy setup for most coaches to go into. Give a guy like Dave Clawson or Mike Gundy UGA’s roster & see what they would do with all that talent.

Kirby is a good project manager, he does a good job wearing the White hard hat & walking with the investors when they show up to the site & he has to sell the vision of the project & keep them interested in investing, but when it comes to the actual architectural design he’s not in on that side of it.

Coaches who can go places where there isn’t hundreds of millions of dollars invested & they don’t have everything laid out for them on a silver platter are the guys I respect the most, coaches like Kirby have it easy AF.
 
I said the team with the best O-line would win, thought that was Georgia, then I saw the coaching early and it was clear, Bama can flip the switch and their coaching staff is confident and patient enough till the team does.

Wonder if Georgia fans have second thoughts about Richt, they were on the rise, had great recruiting classes and they've plateaued since they got rid of him. Thats a tough conference to pay in.

Gotta disagree. Ain’t nothing easy about that pressure cooker in UGA..and if he don’t get over the hump UGA will look to move on.

it’s tough to judge him clearly based off his first HC job being at UGA..the only way we can have a clear picture of Kirby is if he started/or went somewhere with lesser resources.. imo I think he’d do well just about anywhere
