Kicking the FG from 54 yards

Personally, I would not kick there but you have to entertain the idea that Mario was trying instill some confidence into the kicker with an attempt that long and in a game time environment. We all know we are going to need the kicker at some point during the year, and it may be for the win, and from distance. You want him to feel good trotting out there for that future attempt.

But maybe it was not the time for that confidence building exercise....

Don't bring statistics and logic into this. Haven't you heard, Mario is a moron and this program will be lucky to win 8 games this year, because they had a sloppy half, and STILL won by two scores on the road, against a decent P4 team.
I hate the injury side but I love them getting checked. We’re ****ier than what we have produced. Yes we finished well last year but don’t act like we didn’t lose to two mid opponents. Not proven just yet. Play hungry.

Absolutely atrocious especially with a kicker who has struggled kicking. At that spot on the field it’s go for it t . 4th and 4 versus a long fg with a suspect kicker is an easy pick. It could’ve been a total nightmare if that block is returned for a TD . Which is why a lot of teams don’t try that kick at that moment. Where was his analytics guy?
It was a mostly tossup decision. Actually the conservative approach was punting, not kicking or going for it. It was a defensible decision.

The 2 decisions that didn't make sense to me was accepting the holding that took it from 4th and 10 to 3rd and 20. Yes they were going to go for it, but even in the moment, I'd take a 4th and 10 over 3rd and 20 knowing they'd go for it there...

Also whatever happened before half. I honestly don't even know what the **** happened. We had multiple timeouts, yet somehow we were charged 1 AND there was still a 10sec runoff AND the clock started running on the whistle - which imo they blew early. Made legit no sense what was happening there honestly.

Regardless people want to act like mario has been bad decision maker with this stuff, but the facts are the past 2 years hes actually gone with the analytics quite well. Very little complaints from me for the most part here. Completely different from 2023...

A 54 yard fg with a suspect kicker up 13 is beyond retarded . The juice is not anywhere near the squeeze. Then again I guess people will defend anything nowadays. The Skip Bayless effect. A lot more can go bad than good. Including a bad snap , a missed kick which gives great field position , a block which happened and the only thing worse we avoided. A return. I get your schtick but there’s no defending that

I think the should-have-punted crowd is falsely assuming we would have pinned them inside the 5. There was a significant chance a punt from the 36 winds up in the endzone. You drop back and pass and there could be interference, illegal hands to the face, targeting, etc., in addition to the strong likelihood you simply gain 4 yards.
Take a delay and punt versus that is a win . I’d personally went for it but that option is much better than a fg.I’m in a group with Indy and Jhall. We all were like wrf is he doing when he went the kicker out.

I assumed it was but on the replay I didn’t see it. At a neighbors. Wasn’t asking to rewind that trash.

Odds are a lot better nowadays. I can guarantee the opponent would make it against Miami lol.

Pooch it and make then go 80+ to still be one score down.

No. No no no.

First, they got the ball at the 38. At worst, it's a touchback and they get the ball at the 20. At best, you get it inside the 10.

More importantly, they were picking up all their yardage in the air. You need ONE PLAY to eliminate the yardage differential, and they threw for more yardage than we did.

No, we needed to run better plays on 2nd and 3rd down, and then go for it on 4th. We needed the touchdown more than "relative field position".

Yep risk not worth the reward. With less than 5 minutes left you are playing the clock and not the scoreboard. Make them drive or go for it

Told my wife that we just gave them the ball at midfield, give or take 5 yards and our defense is exhausted and can hardly stop them. Said “we should’ve just gone for it or the logical thing was to punt and pin them deep.

my schtick? lmao, Ive had these debates with you a bunch regarding 4th down decision. You don't trust analytics. A 54 yard fg with a suspect kicker up 13... uh are we going to have situations this yr where we are going to need that suspect kicker and have to trot him out for a 50 yarder? How is up 13 not a GOOD situation to be trying that? lmao.

Sometimes you have to see what you have as a fg kicker

That's what practice is for.

Meanwhile, we had some of our best players get injured in a game where the opponent still thinks they have a chance to win with 5 minutes left and down two scores.

Go for it on 4th down. If you make it, they've burned all their timeouts, and you keep marching it closer.
