Kicking the FG from 54 yards

Just seemed like everyone was panicking. It started with the execution to end the half then carried into the 2nd half. We looked like we never experienced a tuff game before

I get the thought process. If you make it it’s a 2 score game, but you can’t lose. Make them get 8 and 8 just to tie. But that positive absolutely doesn’t outweigh the negative of having it blocked and run back.

Your QB completed 25 passes in a row. Get 4 yards.

Completely agree. I didn't like the FG attempt there. Either punt or convert the 4th down

Punting was the worst of the three options. We were on their 36.

Statistically going for it would have been the math call but we had also just had 4 three and outs in a row and appeared to be incapable of completing a forward pass at that point of the game.
 
Dumb or not ..the entire team from top to bottom was shook af at that moment...hard to expect anything "smart" at that point.

You have to go for it or punt. One of the many really bad coaching decisions last night.

The other was going fletcher pistol in the redzone when you moved the ball easily all night. Coaches almost lost that game.

If the kicker was making this in practice then I have no problem him attemp it.

No, the decision that would’ve led to an argument was if you punt or go for it.

Kicking a field goal was the clear option 3 because as others have pointed out the positives of going from a 13 to 16 point lead (still 2 possessions) doesn’t outweigh the negative of a missed field goal (better field position for wake) or a block for a touchdown.

It's a FULL TWO SCORE game, instead of a "If they score two TDs and manage to make the PATs, we would be down one" game. The odds of a team managing to score two TDs, and successfully executing two 2PT conversions are significantly worse than a team merely scoring two TDs and making PATs. If Weinberg hits the field goal, Wake the comes back, scores and misses a 2PT conversion, then it becomes in essence a three score game because they would need to score two more times to win.

Also keep in mind, out of the possible(and likely) outcomes, if Weinberg missed, Wake gets the ball back at where the ball was spotted, making a miss the equivalent of going for it on 4th down and not getting it. From what I've read on the kicker, he has a big leg and feels very comfortable taking those longer kicks.
 
I don’t mind going for the first down with the way our special teams sucked but wouldn’t have tried the long FG. Our special teams sucked all night!

The issue is that if it's blocked and ran back, that's a low probability happenstance. Do you realize how rare blocked FGs returned for TDs are? Most schools have one happen to them once every 2-3 YEARS. Name the last time one happened FOR Miami? Exactly.

Why take the chance? And the kick WAS LITERALLY BLOCKED. If it just bounces different off the kid’s hand, it’s a different story. It was the wrong call, period. I still think it’s wrong even if we were up 14+ to make it a 3 score game, but to kick that to go up 13 to 16 is dumb and wrong. Period.
