Very important in our quest for a double bye in the ACC tournament.
  • Double Bye (Quarterfinals): Seeds 1, 2, 3, and 4 advance directly to the Quarterfinals on Thursday
A Clemson loss means we only need to split our last two games to earn the double bye. North Carolina is very likely to lose Saturday at Duke. Even if we were to lose our last two games, an NC win over Clemson almost guarantees at least a three way tie for third and fourth place.

It would be awesome to retain 3rd place in the standings and so not to have to face Duke until the tournament final. Fortunately given the remaining ACC schedule that appears to be the most likely outcome.

Go Canes!!

We need UNC to beat Clemson... and in turn get beaten by Duke on Saturday

If VT can pull off an upset of UVa, then we end #2 in ACC

Both very possible. But hard to trust UNC to take care of business tonight. Very Jekyl and Hyde team.

Counterpoint: UNC losing guarantees us a double bye (I think). They'd be 2 back in the loss column with 2 to play and we have the tiebreaker. Even if by some miracle they're able to force a 3 way tie, as I read the tiebreaker rules, they'd still be the 5th seed with a combine conference record of 0-2, whereas ours would be 1-1, and Clemson's would be 2-0.
