Fastest Player
Levonte Whitfield, ATH, Orlando (Fla.) Jones
The 5-foot-8, 165-pound Whitfield recorded a time of 4.43 seconds in the 40-yard dash. The speed translates to the field as the athletic all-purpose back is quick on his routes down the field and does a good job of separating from defenders thanks to a quick burst and acceleration.

A 4.43 forty was the fastest time? That sounds a little slow for an AA game. When I was in High school we had 2 players time at 4.4 and less at a Nike combine. Great job Levonte though.

Ht/Wt,electronic timed 40 time, shuttle time, 3-cone time, vertical jump

Orlando Jones Kermit Whitfield tested at 5'7.5, X, 4.43, 4.13, 7.09, 30. That was one of the top 2 times in the 40 and the Miami commit certainly showed that he is an explosive

athlete. There is no weight recorded, but he has some size on his 5'8 frame.

He's a football player and plenty fast enough. Glad he's in the fold. Florida fielded a virtual track team last year and went 6-6 just like us.

Electronically timed 4.43 in high school is incredible! Most Pros don't run a 4.43 40 and that's when they reach muscle maturity and should be their fastest. You can't get held up on the 40 times of old that weren't electronic....they were BS. All the stuff we hear about times at camps (or at VT) are bogus unless electronically timed.

This. Someone broke down the world record 100m time and the 40 yard split was about 4.15 For a sub 9.6 second 100. That makes sense because it takes time to accelerate.

say what? smh.

Truth meter for 40 yard dash times:

Only 7 guys ran faster than 4.4 at the NFL combine last year. 4.43 would have been in the top 15 times - and is exactly what Hankerson ran. That is phenomal for a high school kid, especially one who is an elite sprinter. A 100m sprinter typically reaches top speed at about 60m. Many do not do as well in the 40 as people would think.

Why do you find that hard to believe? The math is pretty obvious. 40 yards is 37% of 100 m. If bolt ran the whole hundred at a constant speed, 37% of 9.6 = 3.5 seconds. But we know at that's not true, as he isn't moving at the start and has to accelerate to top speed, which isn't even reached until past the half-way point. The first half of the 100 m is considerably slower than the second half, as a result. 4.15 makes sense, and I do recall seeing a write-up based on strobe photography splits that showed this.

Everyone who has seen him play has said he has plenty of speed to burn. I wouldnt get too caught up in the time, kid can flat out fly.

Lol at the people who say this electronically timed 4.43 40 isn't fast for a high school junior.

This isn't the same thing as some high school coach timing ray ray armstrong with his iPhone claiming he runs a 4.4
