I think Keona Davis will be the biggest surprise this upcoming season. From all the OL v DL drills that have been posted , no one knocks the OL back the way he does. I've also noticed he lines up in a 5 tech as well as 3 tech in those videos. He reminds me a lot of Mesidor in 2024 where he started out playing inside but has the versatility to play all 4 spots along the DL. it wont surprise me if he got a lot of in game reps at DE. His motor at Nebraska is what I loved the most. This dude chases the ball like his hair is on fire. Really looking forward to see how Coach Heatherman uses along the DL. With Lowe being cut he could fill that void as DE4 while still being DT2 behind scott.

Him and Blount will be our edge setters this year. Both have insane power.

Not sure what Wilson’s weight is but I’ve pointed out we (myself included) might be underselling his potential here

He’s freakishly strong for his frame he just needed to keep adding weight. Not sure how that’s playing out

He is, and I think he will improve greatly this year when it comes to that part of the job of setting the edge. I’m just saying with Davis and Blount, with their size and power, they aren’t just edge setters, their edge destroyers. But Wilson is by far our most talented and best defensive end, there’s no two ways about that. Double digit sacks from him this year.

For sure I agree with you just adding to your point. Blount is one of my favorite players on the team. Kids work ethic and talent is easily 1st round potential and Davis was quietly an incredible portal pickup

Wilson was amazing at taking on pullers at Mizzou. I 100% believe people are underestimating his ability vs the run.

I don't know what his raw strength numbers are, but he has unnatural explosion. He's not a sledgehammer like Blount. He's more like dynamite

As @Ironmanfootball points out certain lifting numbers are pretty useless

But IIRC going back to high school he would routinely post eye opening lift numbers (the more explosive lifts) so yeah that all tracks

That would be a shocker given how the ACC refs just stand there and let our guys get held, tackled, choked,etc. Sad.

I think we’ll see more production from him in the pass rush dept because he will simply have more opportunities but I’ve never viewed him as some super explosive, bendy dynamic rusher.

He's never gonna be anything but a bull rusher. He might get a little better with his hands and but don't expect him to bring an @rsenal of pass rush moves. Kick him inside in obvious passing downs and let him do what he's best at, bull rush and collapse the pocket

Yeah I think next year he’s going to be an absolute nightmare

Dude was just a big young raw kid yeeting his way through OL last year

Never know with the work ethic and coaching dynamic though he might take the leap this year

I think we will see verdict this year, enrolling early in trenches is tough, kid is very young, he probably has 5 year age difference between him and mesi so hard to hold a hardened eval in what was his true freshman season.

Wilson went to Venice HS, same HS as Asharri Charles who also puts up insane lifts on the explosives. We need to continue to recruit that particular high school.
