Kendall Briles

Looks overmatched as an OC at this level

Clearly, the brains of the Baylor offensive operation was his dad
The issue with that offense is personnel.

In order to run it effectively you need an accurate QB & good WR's that understand route concepts & how to get open.

The big mistake they made was going with James Blackman as their QB, he's a 58-59% passer, never been accurate even in HS at Glades Central he was always just a scrambler who could throw an occasional deep ball. He's not an Air Raid style QB.

Plus FSU has a ****** OL & a locker room full of overrated players who are soft as baby sh*t.

Briles has been there almost a year now though. He simply sucks at making adjustments- as evidenced by their anemic 2nd half offenses.

IF he was half of what he was hyped to be he could've made chicken salad even out of a ***** heavy roster so far. He wasn't exactly coaching MENSA members at Baylor.

I'm not convinced that Leavitt isn't washed but if he gets that D to any sort of respectable level watch Ol' Willie Low T throw Briles under the bus.

Lol agreed.

I'm not defending Briles, but it's not that he was coaching geniuses at Baylor/Houston etc, it's that he was coaching players that are more familiar with that system because most of those kids run the Air Raid from Middle school ball on up into High School down in Texas, so they're way more familiar with it by the time they hit college.

Just look at how Wash St, Oklahoma & West Va all run the same system, it's a glaring difference between how they play it & how FSU runs it. All 3 don't use the same style in terms of verbiage & play calling method & Okla runs the ball a whole lot more than Leach does at Wash St, but the passing concepts all revolve around the same principle which is predicated on quick precise decision making from an accurate QB.

Im not quite sure Briles offense is a air raid offense. Briles offense is more RPO than anything, but i agree that Blackman or panhandle school just don't run it very well. You don't see a lot of RPO from tru air raid coaches i feel like. I could be wrong, but even when rape enabler was at Baylor their offense didn't look like an air raid, they just put up numbers like that because they play zero D out there.

Yeah the Briles Spread system isn't strictly traditional Air Raid, Art Briles while being another Leach disciple isn't exactly one of his students in the Air Raid system in the same way that Holgorsen/Graham Harrell/Neal Brown etc all are. Briles was running his own version of the uptempo spread down in Texas as a HS coach in the early 90's, he was kinda one of the earlier HS coaches down there to abandon the Wing-T & start spreading it out & Leach sought him out. So that Baylor offense he made famous was basically his own thing with some Leach fundamentals mixed in.

shocking huh...everyone has said his daddy ran the baylor O. hes a g5 level dude

Not even, 2 years ago Kiffen took away his play calling abilities. Last year he got a Texas HS legend fired from a Top G5 program in Texas.

The gut rot is severe in Tallahassee, and they needed to get sicker before they made the tough choices to actually fix it. That can has been kicked down the road for decades now. Taggart and Briles aren't the issue. The players they/FSU have recruited are. I think both Taggart and Briles can both make a mean chicken salad, but not with the chicken crap they have on their roster.

@D RevLee has made an art form of being wrong literally 100% of the time.

It’s like a superpower to be wrong every time, because even if you try to always be wrong, you’ll always get one right every once in a while through just random chance. But the rev has the power that no matter what, he’s always wrong.

It’s uncanny. He could be Mr. Glass’s sidekick
