I know this is a moot point, because he's not giving up play-calling duties and he's not firing his son or Thomas Brown, but I've been screaming for Kendal Briles for 2 years now and this kid is absolutely tearing it up at Houston, just like many of us knew he would.

He's only making $400k a year, and he's only signed thru next year. He could EASILY be had if this program is serious about playing offensive football.

In Year 1 at Houston, Briles has that offense:

#4 in America in YPG (553 a game)
#7 in YPP (7.18)
#3 in scoring offense (48.3 PPG)

They've scored 41+ points in every single game this year.

Yes, his father is Satan reincarnated. Yes, he may/may not have had something to do with that awful Baylor culture. But Richt is/will be still running the show. I seriously doubt hiring this dude will drive the program into the pits of **** like Baylor was. He is a **** offensive genius, and he's cheap as ****. 400k a year!! Of course Miami doesn't disclose salary information, but I'd be willing to bet that's not much more than Fredo Richt is making. And it's probably half of what Thomas Brown is making.

It's time for Richt to swallow his pride, get his kid another making coffee job in the NFL, and bring Briles in to be Co-OC with Brown and to call plays.

Richt prefers Yes Men, followers. Has he ever hired an outsider and succeeded?

He would be great. Two other interesting names are:

Jake Spavital: 33 year old qb/OC at WV with a lot of experience already as a playcaller. They're 10th in total offense and 22nd in scoring. Plus he's learned from Holgorsen, Sumlin, and Dykes.

Kevin Johns: 42 year old qb/OC at TTU. They're 5th in total offense and 13th in scoring. He also did well as a playcaller in a small stint at Western Michigan and coached several years as a Co-OC with Kevin Wilson at Indiana.

Both guys have solid seasoning and very good results at solid groups and are relatively young, up and comers.

I’d look to see where guys have had continued success vs Power 5 defenses and not necessarily against the big 12. There are many spread attacks that put up video game numbers but can’t against avg. to good teams. It’s not just flipping a switch.

Do you have a dog at home? Maybe a German Shepard? He/she would be an upgrade over what we're watching. I'm not saying Briles will be Bill Walsh. But I'd bet every dollar I have he wouldn't score 13 points against Virginia.

This.

Scoring points in bunches against Big 12 defenses seems normal. Maybe they have a lot of great offenses or just poor defenses.

Before the joke year Sitkowski is having I would have suggested John McNulty at Rutgers. He's had a lot of good experience both in college and at the NFL as a qb coach (4 years total) and prior to having Sitkowski was very good as a play caller in Rutgers at his prior stint.

Don’t understand the dog reference but I do understand Briles would be an upgrade.

I don't understand why everyone is complaining about the 30 year comment. My portfolio of Sears, Kmart, Radio Shack and Montgomery Ward is killing it right now.

Any smart person would have called him right after this game an had him down in Miami picking out house and setting up moving dates. But Richt is who he is and we will more than likely be stuck.

**** I wouldn't mind sending Dugan's, and Brown out to learn some more concepts if he doesn't want to fire anyone. Let them both call plays. Let them earn their run game coordinator/pass game coordinator paychecks.

Then send patke out to learn from Les miles about special teams. Jesus so hard to watch but I always will because I'm a die hard fan. Will never waver even if we didn't have a win

He's making 400k!! That's nothing. That's absolute peanuts. He would be on a plane in 12 seconds if you called him and said I'll double your salary to live in South Florida and coach these athletes.

Jason Candle, HC of Toledo makes 425k/ yr. Perfect platform for him. Miami makes playoffs two years in row with him at OC, then he has his pick of NFL OC or even big time P5 jobs.
