Ken Dorsey & Paul Hilton

This whole desire to have people formerly associated with the program brought back as saviors is the sort of emotional baggage that holds this place back. Ken Dorsey? Why? Because he was a qb here? So was Richt. Oh, but Kenny hung around the nfl for a bit. Okay, great. Is he a great offensive mind? How do you think you know that?

Butch I preferred to Richt but four years later, he’s four years closer to playing Bocce for yuks. This place needs new blood, and someone who knows modern offenses.

What the xxxx is a modern offense and how is a modern offense better than a traditional offense?

I am also tired of this too old crap for head coaches. Same people on this board said the same **** about Butch when we hired Richt. But in these years since, Belichick and Saban (both same age) have been collecting rings and dominating. It seems like head coaches in their 60s are perfect age. They have limited time left and make every season count. Seems like we need one of those guys now more than ever.

Butch is a Great staff builder, besides Recruiter & evaluator....I've said it till I'm F-ing Blue in the face...and will continue to say so till I'm dead...Butch should have been here in 07...or 11 at the latest....Ship has sailed....and I guarantee atleast one NC was on board.

Our recruiting started going terribly downhill from 04 on....the beginning of irrelevance...Butch stays from 01 on...We lay a complete Beatdown on the trail from 2001-atleast 2012....

That makes no sense for several reasons.

We are not discussing whether Butch would have been a solid hire 4 years ago, so that is irrelevant.

Belichick and Saban have been in their current jobs for a long time. They didn’t step into them at 67 years old. So the analogy fails. Moreover, both have massive resources at their disposal that Butch would not have in Miami. And you’re picking as your two examples the two best coaches of this era. Butch isn’t that, so again, the analogy fails.

Hiring someone nearing 70 for a grueling, high stakes, high pressure, intense, multi-year rebuild job dealing with kids and young people is risky and if you don’t get that, I’m not sure how to help you.

Our recruiting started going downhill in ‘02, not ‘04. Both ‘02 and ‘03 were bad. (Did Leo Waiters even exist?) But the ‘04 class takes the cake. It was stunningly awful, even judged against Coker’s own standards. He gave out 28 scholarships and wound up with just one good UM level player.

Butch stays in 01 = 2-4 more NCs
Butch comes back in 11 = 1-2 NCs

Actually it is your argument that fails. Saban has 100+ people + social media and recruiting services evaluating prospects for him. Butch created the GOAT with a regular staff and his ability to evaluate and develop talent. He is proving at FIU that he hasn’t lost any of that ability. Dorsey would also be the perfect guy to groom.

Gimme Norv Turner and Sean McVay in a package deal as co-OC's. That's actually more likely to happen than Kendal "Son of Satan" Briles EVER stepping foot on the UM campus.
