Kellen Winslow

No the speaking out like what Winslow is doing is what made us good. The players basically forced the school to hire Coker, if you remember. They were just really really good and had a reason to have that entitlement. The next generations didn't earn it on the field.

Well we been mired in mediocrity for way too long....Swasey had to go. The country club atmosphere had to go.

It's a necessary change. Any incoming coach has the right to keep or discard whoever they want. Just because some of the former players love the guy doesn't mean you keep him. Change was needed, it's what's best for business.

Look, most of these ex players, while I love them, have nothing more to do than to gripe bout everything. It's mostly reactionary. Fact is, Swasey was the longest tenured guy there. These guys have fond memories of him, still. Some come back and work out w him, sure, but most have been out of touch as to what's really been going on w the U b/c Golden did alienate former players from the program. Swasey was the last piece to a successful program...he was hands on w them.

But facts are facts....he wasn't cutting it here. Players were looking out of shape and weak on the field. They were getting bigger, but not stronger and most looked puffy. The guy couldn't even past his prerequisite to be considered a true coach.

Once we start winning again, and former players are allowed to be around the program again, all this reactionary crap will be swept under the rug and Swasey will be a forgotten man; that's just how life is.

Just shows you how much more credibility Richt has than the previous clowns. Golden knew Swasey sucked but didn't have the balls to fire him.

Richt gives no ****s.

I think you are giving golden way too much credit.

I'm not. Golden talked at length about how our S&C needed to be drastically improved when he took over. He brought in a whole new program himself and started the UTough thing. He was just too much of a **** to fire Swasey because he had no credibility.

I remember that as well, but I thought we had someone on this board that worked at the hecht and stated golden said Swasey wasn't the problem.... That was the whole S&C coach drove to the HC orders argument as well.

everyone was saying that the s and c does what hc says 2do

I didnt know Swasey taught public *********ion classes, but you would think not getting caught would have been the focus.

Sounds more like a UNC class to me.

I think Winslow was right, Swasey was good 12 years ago!!!

Swasey helped us win that 2001 championship, he deserves credit.

He followed Golden's guidelines, not his. He ran his program in the offseason with former players that helped them become successful at the next level.

I don't give a **** what anyone says, Swasey did a phenomenal job.

You may be correct, but apparently Mark Richt did not think he was phenomenal.

Swasey was horrible. He was horrible under Coker, he was horrible under Shannon, and the fact that Golden had to come in and try to put in his own strength and conditioning program just proves how horrible Swasey was.

It speaks volumes that the only competent, proven coach we've hired in the last 15 years first his ***.
