Kellen Wiley (hurt?)

For me Wiley prob was hurt since he seems to not have played at all - not even ST like he normally does on Kickoff.

A) I think the fact that Staff hasn't developed Wiley above Smith in order is a fail

B) I think the fact that Staff is constantly playing Toure and Smith at same time is a fail. But no more so than on non 1sts/2nd&shorts.

C) Regardless what is up with Wiley, Pruitt or Bonner (well and Wiley too obviously) should have been getting force fed snaps Starting with Either 1 of Toure or Smith in with them. This criticism isn't just about Wiley not getting PT. It's about choosing to start Toure And Smith all/most the game together.

So far snaps (against 3 garbage teams mind you):
Player - D snaps, Coverage Snaps (% of total), ST Snaps,
Chase Smith - 136 Snaps, 95 (70%), 41
Toure - 128, 77 (60%), 11
Bonner - 65, 42 (65%), 29
Pruitt - 50, 35 (70%), 46
Marcelin - 35, 20 (57%), 49
Wiley - 30, 11 (37%), 21
Busch - 7, 2 (29%), 23
Campbell - 2, 0 (0%), 8

I would normally agree except the kid posted on social media about lack of playing time and then pulled it down and then didn’t play. Could he be hurt? Sure but that would be a **** of a coincidence.

As most people and I have pointed out on numerous occasions he has shown no hesitation putting in a young player who is ready to go. Make no mistake he wants to win first, but as other people have stated Mario is NOT making the call on who is getting the PT at the lb position. Hetherman is making that call, I know enough behind the scenes to know that much.

Welp that proves it, Hetherman is sabotaging his own defense. Crazy how he went from being one of the best DC in the nation to not knowing what he’s doing with his position group.

Note to self: In, before somebody says Bain, Mesi, Thomas and Scott covered up his deficiencies 👀

Yeah, come to find out, Hetherman is now a political creature who refuses granting adequate playing time to our most deserving LB & instead favors grisly, old LBs who should be sent off to the glue factory. Mario is likewise part of the same political scheme. Hetherman & Mario don’t care about winning. Just play less deserving friends.

While we have consistently been willing to play young players (at certain positions) there are absolutely "favorites" that yearly the players get an absolutely baffling amount of snaps even while the performance on the field is certified dog****, and they refuse to develop the younger guys over them. Happens yearly man. It'd be one thing if we were just talking about starting vs not. But we're talking about the actual rotation decision not making sense when we know Toure+Smith quality and weaknesses and ultimately long-term we want the young guys to step up AND we just had a pretty ******* perfect 4 game stretch to make that happen.... Including blowing teams out. yet... Smith has **** near outsnapped Bonner, Pruitt, and Wiley out just by himself. Its not even saying Toure and Smith SHOULDN'T play (even though I have an opinion there too)... IT's just that they refuse to force feed develop guys when it's clearly in our long-term interest

Last yr we didn't ever rotate TEs. We didn't get young EDGEs or LBs work. We kept starting McCoy over Samson. Lyle was getting unearned pt... And that's all with a pretty elite team.
 
You want to critique their development of younger guys that is fair. The rotation at WR was a question the year before too. The problem in the NIL era plays a big role in all of this too. I’m just stating for a fact that the coach thinks these players give us the best chances and opportunities to win games right now based off a multitude of things we don’t see

Shaq Quarterman he was the first I remember and he was a success story. After that, you’re right it’s been all busts lol
