Keir Thomas Offered

the last one i can remember of note..was the kid Wake Forest trotted out there...He also made it to nfl..because i seen him playing for the Giants at nose tackle as well...he was a guy asked to do one thing at his size and that is shoot gaps...using his advantage.
.

Nikita Whitlock. He was a total monster in high school, probably one of the top 5 defensive players I've ever seen at that level. Unblockable in HS when he was both bigger AND faster than everyone he was playing against with that strength & motor.

Kid motor was crazy...it still is. Its comical watching him play..because hes so small but like a tazmanian devil. That motor got him in the nfl playing as an undersized dlineman. Thomas has the get off similar to whitlock though...

I reference this kid a lot because it goes to show the importance of wingspan. Guys like him and Dumervil are improperly judged. Nikita is even more of a unique case because he's also light as well. Guy still makes plays as a specialist player in the NFL. Total badass football player. Not sure about the recruit fitting into that mold.

Lu yep...Guys justlook at the specific height and weight numbers and automaticaly think...to compare to a certain guy similar size.

Dumervil for example:
Dumervil comes from a fam of athletes. His older bro one of them was a div 1/nfl dlineman Louis Gachelin. He had supreme technique...
Dumervil may be 6'0 close 6'1....but dude has arms that go down to the floor almost...He has a long wing span.
Dumervil was freakishly strong (I worked out with him in my college off seasons)..crazy strength.
Look at the take off of him as well..

Thomas doesnt give me Dumervil at all..he gives me the classic tweener Central has produced...(Miles Pace).. a kid that is like 6'0-6'1 in the 235-250 range when they top out. Probably for Thomas he needs a defined role on the dline...he definately isnt fast enough to be a backer....pluse as you can tell by his frame...he wont hold good weight...he truthfully needs to pick a team that fits his talents..and not just school a big name school because he definately wont play.... A school like VTECH could use him as Bud Foster has done well with guys his size previously...
Only way i take Thomas is if he brings Jamel Cook along with him.....if he was to come here...i would move him to full back imo.

Numerous outstanding 6'1" DT/NG playing college ball. As long as he is a baller, that's all that's all that's important.

Doesn't he weigh around 240. How many 6'1" NG have u seen that weigh 240? Like the kid alot, just nor sure what position he can play.

I think Thomas is a tweener..problem is not sure he can line up at end....he ultimately may top out as a 6'1- 6'2 260 pd dt.....

Now if we get him we need a precise role for him..(on passing downs)...he's a situational player..but from a feeder program...so i stillwould take him..and redshirt him and see where it goes.

This is my concern..His testing numbers:

He was 6'1-235

40-Yard Dash
5.00
Worst: 6.75Best DE: Xavier Kelly 4.55

20-Yard Shuttle
4.66
Worst: 500.00Best DE: Tom Sylvester 4.16

Vertical Jump
27.6
Worst: 15.5Best DE: Antonneous Clayton 37.4

Power Throw
35.5
Worst: 16.0Best DE: Chinedu Udeogu 46.0

SPARQ Rating

I dont know if some of you can remember maybe DMONEY, GEO may can remember but i look at him as a kid maybe similar to another Central Product....MILES PACE who went to UCF....ended up as a tweener their trying to play dt/de...ended up getting shelved and transferred out to Virginia Union (div 2) and was productive this year.
He doesn't. At least not in passing situations he plays end 1st and 2nd then moves inside on 3rd down passing situations... Probably be smart to do that with Chad Thomas too

Keir reminds me of Dominique Easley, incredible first step and relentless pursuit. Easley was listed as 6'2" at 285 lbs. on the 2013 Gator squad. Hope he's a Cane!

Pretty crazy that Dumervil and Lou Gachelin are brothers because Dumervil's arms are 3 miles long and Gachelin's arms as long as a premature baby's. You mentioned Dumervil's enormous strength. That's one thing he and Lou share. I think Lou Gachelin benched 600 pounds at Syracuse.

Thomas is a really good player. He may be light for a DT but he's versatile enough to help you in multiple roles.

Would love to land him and Cook.

. Is it just me but this kids first step off the ball is fast . With a little more size he could really cause issues with his first step off the ball . He would make a good De too .

Our great DTs were not tall. They were thick with quick feet. We made our living collapsing the center of the pocket and destroying plays in the backfield, not blocking passes at the line of scrimmage.

IIRC Russell Maryland was only 6'-2" and Cortez wasn't much taller.

It's not just you, this kid is fast as **** off the ball. Not only that, but He has long arms, as evidenced by His 3 blocked FGs stat line in the that video...that's what you call a redeeming value, despite Him being vertically challenged. Funny to me that a staff that patterned their defense after the "Seattle defense", should've known that Seattle only has 1 DT that's 6'4, the rest of em' are in the 6'2,6'3 range, and quick off the ball like Thomas...SMMFH!
