That may be true, but Bain dominated games in so many ways that don't show up on the stat sheet. He forced teams to double him, keep in backs and TE to help, he set the edge and compressed it leaving little options for running plays. He made life very difficult for Offensive coordinators.

Bain played ND, UF, FSU, and USF | Avg SP+ Offense 39.75
Lightfoot has played Clemson, CMU, Stanford and Wake | Avg SP+ Offense 91.5

Yes i agree but the point is sack production is actually already better from the DE spot. It'll probably be a lot better when you add all the pass rush DE we have. #3 and #4 probably played too many snaps last year too. Keeping our guys fresh this year is paying dividends.

I still say #33 is our best pure pass rusher. He's always getting to the QB. Sure he cant hold the edge and beat up the OL, but with our great run D, having the pure pass Rush guys may actually be an upgrade in some ways.

My main hypothesis here is people keep saying we cant replace #3 and #4,.and sure that's ultimately true; if theres any position on this team where we have the dudes to replace 2 great players its definitely at DE. We are loaded. #88 looked like a freakshow too last week.

How fresh will they keep the guys when they play vs. real teams vs 3 Cupcakes and a mid-level P4? Clemson's logo is carrying a lot of weight which is why I look at SP+ vs polls.

Bain took an OSU OT and drove him into a RB with a one armed TFL. Lightfoot looks like he can do that vs a Clemson freshman but an exp OSU OT? We'll hopefully see!
 
Wilson with 3.5 sacks already too. Bain had 4.5 all regular season. Wilson and Lightfoot are on pace to smash the sack # of #3 and #4 both.

To be fair in limited snaps Lightfoot flashed big-time in the playoffs see that very same OSU game.
