Keep an eye on this...

The scenario I proposed didn't work out. I doubt Patterson has any fear of Texas after that game. Doesn't change the fact that Strong is going to turn TCU back into the ****roaches they used to be once he gets a competent QB and some WRs. He'll recruit his type of guys and will build that thing back up.

Why would he turn them back? I am confused by your comments. You say TCU always gets 2-3* players whether Texas is good or not, so how does Texas being good make a difference? Plus TCU was good when Texas was good not to long ago with Young and then McCoy. Im riding with Patterson as a better coach then Strong. TCU was never winning a MNC whether Texas was good or not but they definitely wont go to crap just cause they are.

It's probable that will happen because Strong should ultimately have more horses and is a good coach. TCU will always be a tough out though bc they are so well coached. They remind me of VaTech in their prime years.

As for GP, he should be on every major program's short list. Surprising that he hasn't already left and makes you wonder if he ever will given how many opportunities he's already had to leave for what most would say are greener pastures. My feeling is that Strong's hiring won't affect GP at all one way or the other. He's got plenty of currency built up from his success over the years. He can cash that in whenever he wants. The question is and has been for years, will he ever leave? I doubt we have the money to pry him away from a comfortable situation. It's going to be a top 5 type gig with top 5 type money I would imagine.

On the other hand, it's also possible Strong could fail at Texas. Short leash there. That's a guy who I think would come to Miami further downstream. He built Louisville off of Miami players. Natural fit. I pray that he doesn't meet the Texas BoT and booster expectations. They'll can his *** in 2-3 years if not. I would be willing to go in hibernation for 2 more years if someone told me we could have Strong in 2016/ 2017.

Strong had the best resources, best talent, 1st round QB and still couldn't go undefeated in the Big East. They played inferior teams with inferior talent and still managed to lose @Cuse, at home vs UCONN and UCF (good team) the last 2 years. They played 1 top 25 team in those 2 years.

I mean I think he's alright but not the mythical figure people have him tagged to be.

I'd be shocked if Patterson ever left TCU, he's had a lot of chances to move on.

Blake James should make the call behind Goldens back just like Golden did with PSU. Make Patterson say no. If he says no then we are in no worse scenario. Yes then Golden can pack his ****!!

Blake James doesn't get a handjob from his wife without getting permission first, probably from Golden.

UM

Al Golden with his ties and pressed shirts, his pillars and his process.... he's perfect for what Donna and the BOT want. Don't kid yourself.

Only he isn't. Not even on that level. His won/loss record is just as bad as Shannon's, but he has also recruited a boatload of rapists/drunks/drug abusers/thugs who keep on getting chucked out of school (seriously hurting that cherished APR, btw). So Overall he is even worse, especially in the parts of the job the admin seems to value most. What gives?

TCU may have mud-stomped Texas, and the rest of their schedule aside from a b.s. loss to Baylor, but that wasn't enough.

The committee shafted them out of the playoffs.

The combination of no championship game and not being Texas or Oklahoma got them the boot from the final four.

Does Patterson think now he needs to get to a name brand school in order to get the respect needed to get into the playoffs?

Even in a big boy conference his Horned Frogs got left out.

I doubt it.
And if by chance he felt the need to leave TCU, it won't be for UM.
That would be a step down from his view.

This was exactly what I was thinking/hoping. Someone like patterson wants it bad. I don't know if he's yet at a point where he realizes he can't take it to the next level at tcu.

Back in 2010, we supposed reached out to patterson (or vice versa). Was this an urban legend?

I don't see Patterson coming to Miami, but he may see that he won't ever get a fair shot there.

Even if Golden gets fired (which I don't see happening until after 2015) I don't see us putting up the cash to hire him.

I see two highly-competitive guys that are sitting under the table and grabbing recruiting scraps from UT, aTm, and OU out of their own state. In a conference with no title game, at non-brand name programs.

Money is an issue, it is also lack of fan support and, worse, lack of support from UM administration.
Just look at how the administration is handling the Golden situation.
If I am an elite coach, I stay the **** away from this school.

What's sad is these two guys are the types that thrive at Miami. They've squeezed all they can out of smaller programs. They're shooting it out with the big boys, but they're bringing bb guns to a tank fight.

You lure them in with the chance to get their hands on some heavy artillery so they can even the playing field.

Nobody at Miami gives a ****, though. They'd probably find Briles too abrasive, in the same way the BOT members left the interview with Mullen in 2010 and called him a "conceited meanie head."

Guys, there is no ******* chance that a Briles or Patterson come here. We have to get those types before they're regarded as elite coaches by everyone. Didn't Briles turn down UT? Why would he come here? And Patterson will be on every short list going forward. This job is a tough sell with the stadium issue. Need to find a Patterson type before on the way up. We tried with Golden and failed miserably.

Or you decide that you are serious about football and make them refuse you. I find it very hard to believe that either coach wouldn't come here, if offered a handsome salary.

Save me the bull**** that we can't afford them.

The longer we have fans beating the "oh woe is Miami, we can't have nice coaches" the longer it will in fact remain a reality.

Any chance Michigan is interested in Golden? Saw today that Harbaugh wants to stay in the NFL. Who is at the top of their board now?

All Patterson had to do was not blow a 21 point lead in the 4th to Baylor and he is in the picture. I think both Baylor and TCU curb stomp their bowl opponents. Patterson is a god at TCU and is payed well. Why risk all of that and come to Miami?
