D, I know u’ve toted this phrase b4, but I don’t think we’re dead. I think we’re fcked, yes, but not dead. Every empire has seen this.
Before Bama became the Bama we know now, it took them 13 yrs to win their next Nat’l title (at our expense, ironically) and took them another 27 yrs to win it again. The key? Hiring Saban.
Before USC became a juggernaut, their last national title was 1982. The key? Hiring Carroll.
Before Clemson became a juggernaut, their last national title was 35 yrs apart. The key? A young, upcoming coach in Dabo.
Before OSU won their title and became a thorn to us fans, it was a 32 yr draught. The key? The Vest and Meyers.
What’s the point my dude? Great programs experience this when they become comfortable. We’re not dead; we’re simply a head coach away.
I wanted Butch, not b/c I thought he could win a national title, but b/c he still has clout among many old school Canes fans, he knows how to recruit and develop, and no doubt he would’ve made this job extremely attractive for the next coach. But now that I see how soon he’s turned around FIU, it’s no doubt in my mind he would’ve had us up and running.
WE FUQIN BLEW IT,,,,,easiest hire ever and it made the most sense and they blew it
Miami is a different animal. Our fans, my brethren are a different animal. The city is a different animal. This recruit base is a different animal. We need a guy who can take this animal by the horn. The only personality that would work here is a win at all cost type of personality. Butch would’ve been that guy w/o the drama.
We’re not dead, it just feels like it b/c we keep getting handed the same chit. Hopefully w a guy like Vilma on the BOT, he’ll help. Hopefully as more and more former players speak up, it’ll get in their heads. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
