2028 Kameron McGee 5* DE from Chicago, IL (Brother Rice HS)

Miami was hoping to have the Rivals300’s No. 1 ranked edge rusher Kameron McGee back on campus over the weekend, but the Chicago (Ill.) Brother Rice five-star was unable to make it back down to South Florida after a grueling game on Friday, a thrilling 35-24 victory over Chicago (Ill.) Mount Carmel.

As the Hurricanes battle the likes of Oregon, Georgia, Texas and Notre Dame to ultimately sign McGee, the Rivals300’s No. 2 overall prospect says he is now looking at getting back down for the game against Pittsburgh the weekend of Oct. 24.

“Elite coaching, new Nike contract, winning culture,” McGee highlighted on Monday morning regarding what has his attention regarding Miami. He also recently spoke highly of Miami coming into the season.

“Miami is high on my list because having a chance to be developed by Jason Taylor would be awesome and the rest of the defensive staff.”

1. Kameron McGee, EDGE: This offseason, we mentioned — after McGee vaulted to No. 1 overall following Miami commit A'mir Sears' reclassification — that the supercharged edge rusher might take the top spot and never look back.

Eight games into his junior campaign, the first No. 1 overall prospect from the state of Illinois is playing lights out.

Around 6-foot-4, 245 pounds with sub-4.6-second speed and a 38-inch vertical, McGee is a truly uncommon athlete with testing markers that compare favorably against NFL Combine freakshows at edge rusher.

That athleticism is just as likely to manifest in an immediate pressure and sack as it is in a jaw-dropping catch and run at wide receiver.

McGee is well on his way to another double-digit-sack campaign after leading Brother Rice to its first state championship in 44 years last season. Even with frequent two-way snaps, the five-star's motor runs hot, and he has leveled up as a run defender this fall.

Plenty of updates remain, and the Navy All-American Bowl will present a major test for McGee as he competes against soon-to-be early enrollees in a padded best-on-best environment.

But the five-star edge rusher possesses the athleticism, frame, length and on-field production to run away with his No. 1 overall billing to the finish line.
