Expected. Good luck to them, especially Kam.
Safeties aren't getting drafted as high as they have been. Brian Branch was the first S taken off the board in '23 and he went in the second round. I think that's around where Kam goes.Heard so many mixed things about Kam from scouts opinions, and he some moments of amazing film as well as awful moments. I'm sure the right team can coach some of that out of him. James is intriguing. If I was a GM I'd want to convert him to a hybrid WLB. He brings a lot of versatility and if he lands in the right spot can be a very good NFL player.
On field coaches? Kam gave up more big plays than ANYONE this year. This "on field coach" "locker room guy" talk for flagg is talk you say about a kid that just isn't that good on the field. Kiko was our defensive leader by seasons end.I think it was always going to be a none or both situation. Those boys are clearly close and I think they will be missed. Yes Kam left a lot to be desired this year and let his eyes fool him and I know for a fact he played through numerous injuries but he was a leader, great work ethic, and QB of the defense. JW20 played well this year but not amazing however he showed plenty of emotion and his energy was contagious. I assume they both got 3 round draft grades.
However I think we miss them both next year. We are losing a lot. I know we went 7-5 (8-4) But I do like some continuity. Very important to keep Kiko in the fold losing Kam and Flagg we lost two of our on field coaches to run Guidry's scheme. Even if we went and got a top safety out of the portal he has only a few months to pick up the scheme.
Yes I expect him to go in the top 3-4 rounds. That's the front half of the draft tool bag.He will get drafted you said drafted high.
I have a feeling JW ends up being taken before Kam… he is hella versatile and the athletic traits are there. Kam is a safety through and through and has some bad tape out there which they won’t like. His testing numbers should be meh as well. Both will be drafted but I personally like JW’s prospects more.Kam will do fine. JW needs a lot of work.
Yeesh there's a lot to unpack here. I'll agree with you on Kiko but Kam and JW were boom or bust players that hurt us as much as they helped us. Kam produced at a high level as far as INT's but lost us games too (see breakdown on game winning TD against GT). JW is a LB at the next level and Guidry has said as much. They're NFL players for sure but both of them need to be reigned in and developed properly. Only so much that Guidry could do with them in one season.I think it was always going to be a none or both situation. Those boys are clearly close and I think they will be missed. Good luck to both young men. I think they both will do very well in the league. If you didn't certain players because of poor body language and lack of emotion then you should love these two guys. They played with emotion and toughness and represented for the Canes and their city the entire time.
I agree 100 percent, NFL likes big hitters. Now if one could clone Kam and Williams they'd have an Ed Reed!may be in minority here. As much as I love Kam in college I think JW has a better NFL career. They will find ways to utilize him
