2027 Kaden Henderson 5* LB from Tampa Jesuit

It's simple math.

Take a look at the depth chart for Notre Dame & TAMU, they have all upperclassmen LB's who are draft eligible. Which means after this season, they'll have a lot less depth & more open spots for PT.

ND & TAMU can offer early PT & all he has to do is look at their depth charts & see that next year he can play a lot quicker on those teams.

And what exactly do you mean he's different? He's a Weak Side Backer that rushes the passer a lot, that's what most LB's do in FL. You can literally send any LB after the QB, that's what Blitzing is for.

If he's being recruited as an EDGE, then he's undersized. But if he's being recruited as a LB, he's in the exact same boat & same position as AJ Randle. Randle's upside is significantly higher.

Maybe you misunderstood my point, but I'll reiterate if you're confused;
Notre Dame & TAMU has easier paths to early playing time. So for Henderson, maybe the hold up in his decision is, if all 3 programs are offering about the same in NIL, what other factors could persuade him to go to one place or another?... Idk, I would guess the team that's offering early PT vs the team that already has 2 high ranked 4-star Blue-Chip LB's committed in the same class.
Maybe he’s looking at our LB room. After Chase and Mo are gone next year its one big question mark. Real dogs aren’t scared of competition and hopefully this kid feels he can compete and earn his spot here regardless

Do you think we don’t run 3 lb personnel because of scheme or that Heatherman doesn’t trust the lb crew we had last year?

Not many teams have 3 traditional LB on the field for more than 30% of downs in today's game.

And we probably have it for about 10. Maybe slightly higher against certain opponents but not much.

Gone are the roster days with 11+ LBs on the roster. I expect about 8, maybe 9 tops

We already won the LB sweepstakes with AJ Randle & Noah Glover.

We have the best LB haul in the Nation for the 27 class. The only other team that could maybe argue they have as good a haul as us is Oklahoma.

We also don't run a traditional 4-3 & rarely if ever will have 3 LB's on the field at the same time anyway, so Henderson can't be sold on immediate PT if he were to pick Miami.

It's pretty much right there on the table that he's gonna have to compete for a job if he comes here. While, TAMU & Notre Lame can sell him on being guaranteed starter snaps.

At this point, it's really on him if he believes in himself enough to walk into a situation where he'll have to test his mettle against equal level competition.

Everybody ain't cut out for that.
Jordan Campbell also from last class pretty sure is basically the exact same size as Henderson, and also was almost entirely an Edge in HS (out of Northwestern). And Wiley is better build than both for EDGE obviously, but apparently staff is playing him much more in the hybrid edge role? idk. But doesn't seem he's as far along at LB as we'd all hope. I think Henderson is very good

....But when I say I'm more than happy with our Class of Randle and Glover, and would much prefer us to dedicate that nil towards guaranteeing Poole (or flip Snell!) and TE , I'm crazy lol.

How do you know Henderson will have it harder at Miami than those other schools? He will have to compete anywhere he goes. His body is further along and he is different than the two kids we have committed. He is a kid you can send after the QB. Not trying to be a **** but just not sure how what makes you say that.

Do your eyes tell you he’s worth more $$ than the two we already have committed ? Most of his highlights are him coming off the edge where’s he’s not diagnosing much. If we’re comparing apples to apples, think the two we already have are the better fit and better bang for your buck

I don’t know if he’s signing here but if he does commit I would’ve preferred to use that NIL money on a different position.

Who says we wont use it anyway? If we strike out does it say by his name (money freed up for somewhere else)

We get who we get, I feel like if we got MM we still would of gotten JBryant. We will pay for the dogs regardless

Henderson is the name I’m watching over the next 7 days. DJ Jacobs got a lot of ink this weekend, but I think Henderson is further along to a resolution.

Miami was optimistic the last time I spoke to them on Sunday. There is real traction. We’ll see.
So this essentially says he’s likely not making that trip to Notre Dame. According to the ND reporter it’s supposed to be not this upcoming weekend but the following (6/19). D$ chooses his words carefully

Chase Smith and Toure aren't coming back next year. He will have just as much of an opportunity to start here. I haven't watched any of his tape, do you think he is clearly the worst of the 3?

You just proved my point. The two guys we have are similar players. Henderson has a bigger body type and can come off the edge. Glover is 200 pounds. Both he and Randle are outstanding. But Henderson brings another dimension to our defense. I would answer you by saying yes I would add him and I’d add a safety in the portal. Because if we are speaking high school players or using the term “ bang for our Buck” I’d rather a top 5 backer who can apply pressure and still grow as well.

Exactly! We have not recruited linebacker as well as other positions in terms of overall numbers. Wiley is a nice prospect. Hayes is in jail. The kid from this past class is solid. Glover is 200 pounds and although awesome needs to grow into his body. Randle is probably ready for some snaps. Henderson you add and this opinion that it’s an easier path other places haven’t looked deeper into the depth at backer on this team.
