2027 Kaden Henderson 5* LB from Tampa Jesuit

It's simple math.

Take a look at the depth chart for Notre Dame & TAMU, they have all upperclassmen LB's who are draft eligible. Which means after this season, they'll have a lot less depth & more open spots for PT.

ND & TAMU can offer early PT & all he has to do is look at their depth charts & see that next year he can play a lot quicker on those teams.

And what exactly do you mean he's different? He's a Weak Side Backer that rushes the passer a lot, that's what most LB's do in FL. You can literally send any LB after the QB, that's what Blitzing is for.

If he's being recruited as an EDGE, then he's undersized. But if he's being recruited as a LB, he's in the exact same boat & same position as AJ Randle. Randle's upside is significantly higher.

Maybe you misunderstood my point, but I'll reiterate if you're confused;
Notre Dame & TAMU has easier paths to early playing time. So for Henderson, maybe the hold up in his decision is, if all 3 programs are offering about the same in NIL, what other factors could persuade him to go to one place or another?... Idk, I would guess the team that's offering early PT vs the team that already has 2 high ranked 4-star Blue-Chip LB's committed in the same class.
Not true. He has just as good a chance to start here as a freshman. Miami has all young guys for the most part behind the kneeless grandpas. All 3 teams have highly talented young guys he will have to beat out to start.

Do your eyes tell you he’s worth more $$ than the two we already have committed ? Most of his highlights are him coming off the edge where’s he’s not diagnosing much. If we’re comparing apples to apples, think the two we already have are the better fit and better bang for your buck
You just proved my point. The two guys we have are similar players. Henderson has a bigger body type and can come off the edge. Glover is 200 pounds. Both he and Randle are outstanding. But Henderson brings another dimension to our defense. I would answer you by saying yes I would add him and I’d add a safety in the portal. Because if we are speaking high school players or using the term “ bang for our Buck” I’d rather a top 5 backer who can apply pressure and still grow as well.
If your a 5 star LB and the top of your position group, you should start day one. I don’t think Henderson is that. Henderson has yet to prove he’s able to diagnose a play and actually play LB. Pay him all that money for him to learn the position and not start til year 2 at best? I’d pass. Randle and glover are way ahead of him in that department. Henderson seems like a higher ranked and more athletically gifted Jordan Campbell

I am convinced that if one of the young guns showed true promise this spring they would not be this aggressive. Mario doesn’t give much to the media but the fact that he basically told the fanbase our backup young linebackers flat out aren’t getting it done should speak volumes… and I believe is the exact reason why we are trying to close on the most ridiculous LB class miami has landed in the modern era

I love it

I think Kaden Henderson, although utilized similarly in HS, is on a different level than Mike Smith, Terry McCray, Sam Brooks, etc archetypes of FL blitzing LBs transitioning to college. Looks better at disengaging blockers in run defense, and athletic and instinctual enough to grow in pass coverage; can stick to TEs and RBs who go out for routes, or spy on the quarterback. Can go sideline to sideline with the best of em.

Agree that he isn’t a need w/ the two we have signed up yet it’d still be great to have in the rotation.

Watching recruiting for years guys like this always look like missiles and then they get to college and they look regular as ****. Not saying he isn't a take or he will be a jag, but I just remember thinking a bunch of LB's would be great never to be heard of again. Really difficult to evaluate these linebackers. Pretty sure the best ones in the league are low 4 and 3 stars.

Pairing him with other LBs and a good DL can make his development better. Too often we brought in some guy, forced him into a role he was ill equipped for way too soon and it never worked out.

No telling if he’d develop here, but it’s reasonable to see how the path is easier now than it was under past HCs.

Facts, that's how Saban maximized his guys. Put an elite DL in front of them and let them loose. Still so difficult to evaluate.

Jalon Walker is an easy example of a guy with comparable stats, measureables and accolades to Kaden Henderson who lived up to that billing.

4 of the top 6 linebackers in the 2021 class got drafted and the only ones to not get drafted: Xavian Sorey and Deontae Lawrence, who may make teams as UDFAs, both still racked up 200+ tackles in their SEC collegiate careers.

Plenty of the top HS LBs were heavily utilized as blitzers and transitioned just fine at the next two levels. Ofc Kaden could be the next CJ Hicks, but becoming a bust is possible for any recruit at any position.

Shemar James’ hs highlights are of him mostly attacking the qb, rushing from all over, playing WR or wildcat qb, or TFLs against RBs. He just had 91 combined tackles and 6 starts for the cowboys as a rookie.

These websites would’ve stopped ranking guys like Kaden so highly if they weren’t producing at the next two levels.

Henderson is the name I’m watching over the next 7 days. DJ Jacobs got a lot of ink this weekend, but I think Henderson is further along to a resolution.

Miami was optimistic the last time I spoke to them on Sunday. There is real traction. We’ll see.
I’ve been told this as well. Lots of momentum right now. All gas

I love the aggressiveness to build depth but I don't think its because our players didnt show but that our numbers are going to go down drastically enough to reup. You have to give freshman at least a year to be ready regardless of stars too.

Chase, Mo and Bonner are gone after this year.

That leaves

Jrs
Pruitt - Tweener

So
Marcelin - Depth guy
Wiley - Potential Starter

Freshman
Edwards - Needs weight
Busch - Summer Enrollee
Campbell - Summer Enrolle

Campbell - Summer Enrolle

I believe he was in for spring?

Bonner are gone after this year.

Nah Bonner will have at least 1 more year after this unless he portals out.

Pruitt - Tweener

Ehhh I think he's gonna be ready to go and be a nice surprise.

I agree overall it's not great depth at least not experienced.

Not to quibble, but Campbell was an early enrollee. Your point stands that the lb room will be young next year unless they bring in transfers.

I hope we have 4-5 blow out games that all these young guys can get an entire half of reps, cuz although they are highly rated kids, not much experience amongst the Soph/FR/'27 kids for the year after...

Good catch on Campbell, still hes a converted DE so he wont contribute much this year.

And Pruitt may surprise but the coaches are recruiting to that affect that they would also be surprised if he could be counted on as a full time backer.

I'm not sure I follow? They are bringing in 2-3 LB. What's that have to do with Pruitt? Look at your list even with the Bonner correction that will be 3 guys that have been in the program longer than 2 years. They will probably add to that in the portal. The guys that they are bringing in no will only get on the field while Pruitt still leaves if they are studs out the gate?

I dont see Bonner coming back barring a big breakthrough on his part.

It has to do with Pruitt in that he isnt a true LB and they need more depth behind 5 linebackers with little experience.

They have an opportunity to get elite HS while not knowing what will be in the portal. Its a numbers play is what I am saying. More LB options means better chances at hitting at the position.
