Kaaya - Under center struggles

When you get in the red zone you score because you want to dominate, not settle for field goals and think its ok.

to be fair, he played under the king of unfruitful red zone appearances for his first 2 years of college.

Could never figure out why al didn't just tell the team how the key to scoring was WANTING to score. I'm sure CMR will just explain that to Kayaa and everything will be fine.

he did blame the o line for the second pick and even asked the press corp and the wqam reporter if they had seen him getting hit, as if he wanted to validate that it was not his fault. this is nit picking but most tough true leaders would have said something like, well, yeah the pocket collapsed and i got hit but i shouldn't have thrown the pick. great QBs lift up the weaker/less talented. while nit picking, it is a window into his psyche. this needs improvement. on all other fronts, he'll get better and maybe this means he needs to come back another year, which would be great.

It's the truth though, our QB shouldn't be getting hit like that against Fau... Kaaya got blasted on the play which caused the ball to come out like that

Playing under centre in the I helps the run game. He struggled in the Shotgun as well. His struggles stopped when the play was a short quick rythym pass.

He has problems when he hears any kind of footsteps heading his way. His footwork has always been a problem and doesn't sound like it's been fixed yet. I've never seen his shuttle times before, but I bet they would be close to the slowest in history at his position were he to do the drill. He won't improve much of he can't find a way to correct these problems. I've said this from early on in his career and while people want to label him a top pick in the Draft, it won't happen when pro scouts begin to examine his footage. There aren't many NFL franchises that can protect against a completely immobile QB who can't throw hardly at all on the run.

Give him time in the pocket and nobody around, he does well. I don't see our OL giving him that and he often is moving even when there isn't a reason to. His pocket awareness is poor. Still, plan the offense around his weaknesses and again, he can do well. Five and seven step drops though, he's not there yet. Heck, the OL hasn't been there yet either. They need to step up and help more.

Shut all the way the fuq up.

Two paragraphs of mindless and misinformed drivel.

Okay, cover your ears and talk to yourself then hoping to not hear the truth. Kaaya has poor footwork, always has, but hopefully it gets better.

I watched him for two years and judging by the comments in this thread, he still is suffering from the same problems. People are trying to figure out what the problem is, suggesting a nagging injury all the way to alluding mental issues with the game itself, not knowing what they're looking at. If it wastargets dropping the ball, that would've been said. Most people don't know what they're looking at when they watch a QB play. They talk about arm strength, ducks being thrown, wondering why QB's aren't accurate on the run, take sacks, etc. Largely it's due to QB's poor footwork and given time, it's not a trait of BK. Make him move at all, he exhibits most of those issues because he doesn't set hit feet.

Sounds like they prepared him in practice for both the MLB and the SLB to blitz on the first INT, but only the SLB blitzed, MLB stayed back for the INT. Richt said it was more of a coaching issue, putting the reflex in his head to throw the ball to the receiver in the middle in that situation.

Some of you would do a better job diagnosing Kaaya if he quarterbacked another team. And that goes for both his haters and lovers. Strange bunch the both of you.

He straight up sucked Saturday, and it wasn't just because of the OL. But he's also a good quarterback, and I refuse to believe competent coaching is going to usher in his downfall. Doesn't make sense. Nor do I think he has some mythical "Got It" deficiency. Some of you are legitimately happy he's struggled this year. Again, strange freaking bunch.

Brady's O-line was kaka. I hate that douche, but what he's been able to do with that sorry unit the past few seasons has been spectacular. But I get what you were saying, tho.

Not saying Brady is no good because we all know that isn't true, but he is in a QB friendly system. I am sure I will get bashed for this but most of his throws are quick short throws. Slants, WR screens, and quick short crossing routes. He rarely goes down field and when he does it typically to Gronk. They know their line sucks so they design quick hitting plays to get the ball out of his hands quickly.

How is it the Olines fault for BK missing badly on several easy throws? He was not sacked once yesterday and was pressured maybe 3 times at the most. The Oline did their job yesterday. We have to stop making excuses. Every QB in the world at some point will get hit, pressured or sacked. No Oline is perfect and I think our Oline is better than most

Finally!!! Stop blaming the Oline Kaaya just played terrible yesterday and everyone need to stop making excuses for him. Kaaya is a 3 year starter and i don't care about him having a new OC. Kaaya is staring down his first read and he's not going thru his progressions. That first interception was terrible and it happen because he locked in on his first read like he's been doing all game.

And a few of his hurries were not because the pocket broke down it was because he moved up into the pocket when he should have stepped back. Taking a ball from center requires a 3 step drop and then you may need to move forward or backwards depending on the pocket. His footwork is not great and at this point his does not have a natural feel for where he needs to be in the pocket. All teachable concepts but he is not there yet.

What's with all of the hyperbole regarding Kaaya? Jesus christ.

Even great QB's have bad games. Dorsey, one of our greatest QB's, had some horrendous games. He single handily almost lost us a couple.

Simmer down fellas.

Yes, it is the truth, but a true, great leader, and if you want to be "special and elite" (cf. WestEndZone), you take responsibility for other people's failures. example? asked why the team had committed to many penalties against FAU, Richt said it was the coaches' fault. Again, this is a small example of his present day weaknesses that under CMR he will get better at.

He's a very good passer, but not yet a great QB and leader. He needs to improve footwork, operating in discomfort (as others have said) and his play action fakes are among the worst I have ever seen, he does not sell them well. He has great talent and natural abilities, but he's had terrible coaching. I look at him at being in his first year in many ways, so it's all good. he'll improve as the year goes on.

I saw someone posted something similar. Such a foolish comparison. While you're right even great QBs have poor games, KD had already established himself as an excellent QB the season before winning some extremely big games.

That Boston College team finished ranked in the Top 25. It was also a road game in absolutely horrific weather. Little bit different than playing FAU at home.

either way its not a good sign... lets see how he bounces back, golden and coley coddled the kids, lets see if Richt builds character and Bradly learns from what should have been a huge Stat night..
