Kaaya - Under center struggles

How is it the Olines fault for BK missing badly on several easy throws? He was not sacked once yesterday and was pressured maybe 3 times at the most. The Oline did their job yesterday. We have to stop making excuses. Every QB in the world at some point will get hit, pressured or sacked. No Oline is perfect and I think our Oline is better than most

Finally!!! Stop blaming the Oline Kaaya just played terrible yesterday and everyone need to stop making excuses for him. Kaaya is a 3 year starter and i don't care about him having a new OC. Kaaya is staring down his first read and he's not going thru his progressions. That first interception was terrible and it happen because he locked in on his first read like he's been doing all game.

I think Kaaya is having the same struggles that many College spread QB's have when they transiton to the NFL and have to be under center. In our first game he was under center more times than all of last season. I believe Kaaya came from a spread system in HS and especially last year under Coley we were running the shot gun almost exlusively.

I suggested this in another thread and it would seem to make sense. The question now is how long will it take him to adjust. I tend to think that he will be fine. He's obviously not in his comfort zone right now and that greatly contributed to his sub par performance last night to go along with the fact that this team seems almost bored by the competition. I fully expect him to step it up.

Also if ur under center and ur OL sucks *** the push in the middle doesnt allow u to get ur feet set and u become erratic and thats what we saw. I like under center either way is fine by me but i like the i form it helps the run game

the first INT was 100% Kayaa's fault. Locked on to the receiver, forced the throw, didnt read the D or go through progressions. Looked like a true freshman on that throw.

It's only one play but it was a baddddd play, not one you would expect from him as a Junior

I'm starting to suspect kaaya has a lingering injury of some kind. It's not like he hasn't faced pressure in the past 2 years here and even when he has time to set himself, he sails it or loads up like tebow and chucks it at his receiver.

Many knowledgeable posters commented on Kaaya's mentality a long time ago and were attacked for it by the Bk zealots.

He has the physical tools but when you listen to his post FAU interview, you can hear the excuses and deflections within the subtext. He does not readily accept responsibility as the 'leader' of the team and displays no killer instinct. When you get in the red zone you score because you want to dominate, not settle for field goals and think its ok.

This guy said it doesn't matter how he plays as long as it's a win; Its not just about winning, its how you go about winning in Miami.

Some of you guys come up with crazy excuses for Kaaya. He has been practicing under this system since Richt got here. He is a seasoned JUNIOR not a freshman. He cannot make the throws, has MISSED ON 5 TD's so far, and has shown NO FOOTBALL ACUMEN to win on the road. Clearly he is uncomfortable because of the humidity in South Florida. This is the prime reason his passing is erratic.

Subtext? WTF are you talking about? He just said he didn't play well and that he's happy they won. What's he supposed to say? "I played horrible. I wish we would have lost to teach me a lesson." Give me a break!

Perry can't get here soon enough. We'd be better off starting Rosier

Can you homos stop with this Perry nonsense?

First, as someone who was given **** this offseason for my remarks on Kaaya, he needs to be given the chance to prove himself in big games this season. I still have hope that he'll turn things around and be the QB we need him to be.

Secondly, Jack Allison will be the next starting QB. I know you guys have a girl-like obsession with recruits who haven't signed with us yet, but Kaaya's successor is already on campus.

Kaaya creates pressure for himself by climbing the pocket like a sloth

Sure our O-line isn't great but ffs get the fvck back in your drops kid!

You can clearly tell most of you don't know **** about football. Kaaya played primarily under center his true freshmen year and threw 26tds. Last year in that ****** so called spread he only threw 16tds.

Kaaya problem was he was just off. Kaaya is a rythm passer and when you get those type guys out of that rythm and disrupt the timing they tend to struggle.

He's not comfortable playing under center, it's really obvious. His footwork is the main problem. It takes too long for him to get a base and let it go.

A QB at any program should be able to play gun and under center. It's mental, you still find the open guy and throw it to him. If Kaaya can't play under center then he's a joke

Too true, you should probably be UMs QB coach.

He has problems when he hears any kind of footsteps heading his way. His footwork has always been a problem and doesn't sound like it's been fixed yet. I've never seen his shuttle times before, but I bet they would be close to the slowest in history at his position were he to do the drill. He won't improve much of he can't find a way to correct these problems. I've said this from early on in his career and while people want to label him a top pick in the Draft, it won't happen when pro scouts begin to examine his footage. There aren't many NFL franchises that can protect against a completely immobile QB who can't throw hardly at all on the run.

Give him time in the pocket and nobody around, he does well. I don't see our OL giving him that and he often is moving even when there isn't a reason to. His pocket awareness is poor. Still, plan the offense around his weaknesses and again, he can do well. Five and seven step drops though, he's not there yet. Heck, the OL hasn't been there yet either. They need to step up and help more.

Lol. Now i had to read every comment and i finally found it.

Kaaya did play a good amount of under center as a TRUE fresh. He is considered a top pro prospect because of his time under center. Or did yall forget that?

He had a bad game. Stop the excuses

Kaaya didnt look good in the shotgun either last night.

He'll bounce back.

Shut all the way the fuq up.

Two paragraphs of mindless and misinformed drivel.

he did blame the o line for the second pick and even asked the press corp and the wqam reporter if they had seen him getting hit, as if he wanted to validate that it was not his fault. this is nit picking but most tough true leaders would have said something like, well, yeah the pocket collapsed and i got hit but i shouldn't have thrown the pick. great QBs lift up the weaker/less talented. while nit picking, it is a window into his psyche. this needs improvement. on all other fronts, he'll get better and maybe this means he needs to come back another year, which would be great.

^This is subtext, in other words, what you can infer from reading between the lines. His tone, inflection, demeanor, delivery, posture, gestures, non verbal indicators, eye contact, line of sight, the cadence and timing of his responses, you know... subtext. Not just his words but what you understand and take away, like when he quickly slips in a comment about not having enough time, that's shirking. Mike Gundy's response to the refs costing his team the game, that's accountability.

Kaaya will improve and CMR will be a major factor in his development. We'll be fine.
