Andy Reid is constantly looking to upgrade at quarterback, and he could land a very good fit for his rhythm offense in Kaaya, who is accurate and poised with good mechanics. The ideal progression here would be to start Alex Smith this season and next, and hand the ball to Kaaya in 2018. (What, no Nick Foles?) Reid has drafted a Mark Richt-coached quarterback before, too, in Georgia’s Aaron Murray. Kaaya just turned 21 after starting as a true freshman and might have his best ball ahead of him.

That would be a tremendous fit, Kaaya and big ole Andy Reid. (But hopefully he stays for that senior year)
 
Don't mind admitting my selfishness in saying I want him to stay another year.
 
Kaaya will stay for his senior year. He is a smart young man who knows that he needs another year under Richt's tutelage. The extra year will make the difference between being a top-five pick and a lower third of the first round pick, maybe even a second rounder. That is a big money difference. His family is comfortable, so no need to take the quick money and lose the bigger payday. Besides, he strikes me as a fellow who would enjoy the full four years at UM. If he were a RB and more susceptible to a major injury, leaving early would make more sense.
 
Kaaya ain't going to be around after 22 picks as he is a prototypical passer in the league . he will be a top 5-10 pick IMO regardless when he leaves . But I do think he might stay if we have a big year and try to win a title next year.
 
With the new receivers coming in this year, he will put up monster numbers next year. They could help him be #1 overall.

I'm not sold he is automatically gone. Wouldn't surprise me if he stayed to make a run for #6 .
 
Daniel Jeremiah, former NFL scout who does college scouting for NFL network, said last week he thought Kaaya was a 3rd-4th round guy right now.

I agree. He fits NFL type most teams seek. I actually think he returns next year because it is his nature. But if he takes us to the promise land this year and win NC(hey, we have hope), then he might smile and "keep it going now." In that case, the kid that brought Miami back is not lasting past 5 picks, no way no how.
 
Kaaya doesn't look ready. Hopefully he realizes another year under Richt equals a couple more mil

One thing that Kaaya is going to suffer from if he stays for his senior year is over analysis.

A guy that's a sure-fire first round pick as a Junior suddenly becomes a mid-round pick as a Senior. They'll question his accuracy, his toughness, his mobility, his arm strength and the fact that he can't win the big game.

Depends what Draft grade they give him, but he might be wise to leave as a Junior before there's too much scrutiny put on him.

Well if Kaaya goes we'd probably still be okay at QB (though his departure would still be unfortunate), with Malik at the helm.

That being said... a 2017 Canes team with presumably more depth, more experience under CMR, and Kaaya at the helm would have a lot of potential.
 
Lol at we'd be ok with Malik at the helm.... He's a great teammate but let's be honest, he should never start here. If Kaaya leaves(which I fully expect him too), it's going to be a rough year next season at QB.

In today's NFL that is just silly. Every team without a franchise QB will be looking at Brad and asking is he the one. It is the most necessary position in NFL today. He has the dimensions, tons of tape at P5 level, throws over middle, great touch on long ball, good progressions already, brain for football, and NO off-field issues. If Mark can improve his under center play and pocket positioning in drop backs kid goes very high. He is not flawed in any major way. His lack of true running skills, while a negative for some, can be a positive for other teams who do not want their franchise getting crushed for 7 yards - kid will stay in pocket. It would be nice to see him develop a Brady like ability to get one yard when needed.

NFL GM's do put some value on not having to wake up every morning worried that their QB made the news during the night or is out for season with injury from a running play. Brad has a nice risk/reward ratio. Almost no risk with a good reward ceiling.
 
Kaaya will be back for another year. He ain't no where near being ready for the pro's...
