Kaaya is unspectacular and looking more like Steve Walsh

Walsh was our best clutch QB ever. Kaaya has a much better arm, but he goes through progressions like a champ and has some of that same cerebral unflappability that Walsh had.

Amen to that as many who never saw Walsh don't realize how good he was and Kaaya does have a much better arm. Walsh sat 2 years waiting to play and Kaaya got thrown right into the fire.

The thing I love about Kaaya is he makes the routine play routine and he makes the spectacular play routine.

Arm strength better than Walsh or Dorsey.

He's a savvy mo fo. True frosh unbelievable.

Kid has been great, reducing the TOs is a huge plus. Nov 15th will be a huge test, FSU will obviously do everything it can to shut down the run and force Kaaya to beat them. He just needs to play within himself and not make the stupid play that creates 6 points the other way.

I can't believe I 'm saying this, but I can't wait for that game. I will actually be real anxious before a Canes game again.

That game in Seattle in 2000, IMO, all UM had to do was feed Clinton Portis a bit more and they win that game. I thought Cokers handling of Dorsey that afternoon was very suspect...

Very poor situational spot. I know people don't want to hear that, just like they scoffed at Golden when he mentions bye weeks. But it's extremely valid. We played an absolute stiff at home on grass and then traveled to play a very talented team on artificial turf. That was a well known negative spot in that era. Too much contrast, and likelihood to not to grasp how far up in class we were moving.

Nowadays there aren't as many turf switches. I was in Las Vegas in 2000 and everybody I knew was betting Washington, particularly in the first half, due to the trend. It was the same thing in the NFL for decades. When a grass team was sent to an unfamiliar site on artificial turf they invariably would sleepwalk through the first half and fall well behind. I'm still crying at the elimination of those great astroturf, tartan turf, poly turf and similar surfaces. Life as a sports bettor was so much simpler...

The Canes would have been far better off if that 2000 game was the opener, minus the warmup against McNeese State. I remember attending that game before flying back to Las Vegas in the wee hours that night and warning the nearby fans in the Orange Bowl that it was a horrible prelude to what we would face a week later.

For one thing, eastern fans and teams have a long and ongoing idiocy to underrate the Pac 8 or Pac 10 or Pac 12 or wherever it ends up. Those teams have floods of talent and its only ruined if a moron like Mike Leach is summoned to coach.

I don't know how that PI wasn't called by the way.

I love his incompletions and throw aways. They are either in a place where the receiver makes a play or it hits the ground. He doesn't often put us in harms way. HOWEVER, he can still make the throws. That throw to Dorsett yesterday when the PI was not called was perfect!

Dooger, and back then U-Dub was an absolute madhouse and a really tough out for any visiting team. I saw a lot of superior UCLA and USC teams throughout my childhood have absolute dog fights in Seattle versus the Huskies. That game scared me to death when the 2000 schedule came out

I was thinking dorsey. Manage your playmakers keep us in the game and don't make mistakes. .

No. Dorsey did more than that. His pre snap reads and time through his progressions after the snap is what made Dorsey. Kaaya isn't close to that yet.

Dorsey could also be INCREDIBLY inaccurate.

LOL, what's your point? ALL QB's have an off game. I haven't seen a QB have a 100% completion year yet. Dorsey wasn't two time Heisman finalist because he sucked.

I guess I just mean that they're different players.

Kaaya has more arm talent and in the coming years I think you're going to see his pre-snap game rival Dorsey's.

agreed, as good as dorsey was he could have never mad e that throw to duke kaaya made in the VPi game. Dorsey would throw ducks as soon as anyone breathed near him.

his jersey had to be spotless.

Kaaya, filtered vs FCS opponents only, is 9th in the nation in QB rating. Amazing for a true FR.

Future is extremely bright on the offensive side of the ball.
