They don't. Just like they don't pick coordinators or defensive schemes. My comment was just about fanbase sentiment. The same sentiment that supposedly bothered Japicky so much. I'm obviously for the guy that gives us the best chance to win but one can't ignore that Kaaya so far has endeared himself to the fans having not even set foot on campus than Olsen (a similarity rated recruit) has in the last year.

I pick em by looking at the kid's Instagram account and Facebook statuses. Like Al says, Kaaya is a champion. Olsen is more worried about going on dates on the Beach and not getting haircuts.

Haha, I actually hope you're right. Olsen winning the job this year sets up a better progression over the next 5 yrs if everyone pans out.
 
Olsen is not the one to sleep on you guys listen to crap said about a kid his redshirt freshman year that he couldn't play in and all of a sudden after a year of recovery from a broken foot he's a bum because he loves his girlfriend lol im glad you guys aren't our coaches we'd really suck

I didn't know actually wishing Olsen does perform well enough to win the job this year and making a joke about Golden calling Kaaya a champion on NSD is "hate". A couple people in this thread seem a little too uptight about defending Greg's lil bro. Makes you wonder...
 
I am loving the completion at qb. I have some confidence in Williams and believe Olsen will come on strong. It look like he was just cruising at the Elite 11 and then suddenly he was in the final group. For us old-timers who remember dog racing and horse racing. Olsen is a "closer". Kaaya does look like anyone starting ahead of him will have to survive serious fight. Kid is extremely exciting.

I don't want this pick and stick with one crap we saw the last few years, especially last year. Go with you choice but by God, jank him if it is not happening. Kaaya is clearly coming in looking to start first year. But, redshirt for QB is a good thing. This kid will be chomping on the bit, not sitting back relaxing.
 
Olsen played in freaking NJ Kaaya played in CA dude, u see how many guys CA is sending to college to play ball vs NJ...

NJ sends a **** of a lot of players to college..... ****, last year arguably the best player was from Jersey(Peppers). Plus I'd expect California to send more players to college considering the overall population from California to New Jersey is nearly 5X as much. Common sense.
 
Love Kaaya's attitude. It's still hard to pick who was my favorite commit for 2014. Definitely between Kaaya, Thomas, and Berrios.

Me too, as I remember the days of Cannon Smith/Taylor Cook being in the QB battle. *shudders*

We're in great shape at the QB spot right now. Between Olsen/Kaaya/Rosier, and then being in the discussion for Wimbush and/or Gibson...I love the direction our QB position is heading as far as how deep the talent pool is getting.
