Juwon Young rumor

Was he UGA caliber? He was in Richt's backyard, and Richt didn't want him. ****, the dude couldn't even get an offer from lowly Georgia Tech.

He just got worked by 2 HS kids in the course of a week in spring ball.

That's not the UM caliber I'm looking for. You can have those reduced expectations. If he's not good enough for Richt at UGA, then he's not good enough for Richt at UM.

Actually several SEC programs wanted Young but never offered due to grades. He came to a UM camp and earned an offer bc our coaches told him they trusted him to get his grades up and that their offer would stand if he did. Young committed due to that trust they showed him and having confidence in him instead dismissing him right away. Worked so hard w school he was able to EE. Never entertained other schools after committing, so the other offers never came back around. I can go back and pull the article if I must.

I still think you're reaching by saying Young is not UM caliber. He has All-ACC potential. I think him being a #2 has WAYYY more to do with Shaq/Mike than it does JY. He had bad coaching for 2 years and developed bad habits for 2 years. Not to mention had literally ZERO competition bc Kirby was a starter no matter what bc he toed the line for AG and No D and nobody else was good enough to push him. Even in the spring Owens was out and the rest were scrubs outside the 3 frosh. Then you have to consider that w a new staff EVERYONE is on a level playing field and has a fresh start. So new studs came in and impressed and JY was still trying to adjust from the old coaching and scheme. Plus looking at the situation and considering the insight Uknowwhat said about JYs lack of focus at times, I would say that it is very likely that they played the kids in front of him to see how he responds and get him to focus and push more, which is what any good coach would do and I believe Richt is definitely in that category. Lastly, those kids being ahead of him in the spring doesn't mean much and when players are younger than incumbents, they don't even have to be AS good in order to overtake them, they just need to be close bc they have youth on their side from a developmental standpoint. Just my 2c. Young is bigger loss than you will admit. Also I want to add that a JAG, imo, is a bum and not an avg player. I understand your earlier point that a bust is a bum, but I think a bust really should only pertain to a highly recruited player since a bust usually alludes to high expectations not being met-nobody was jacked about McCray, Smith, etc...

He didn't get offered by SEC programs because of grades? But he got a UM offer? Did you really just write that?

"21" must be Tayt's IQ.

These dudes are doing contortions that would make the great Yogi Kudu blush. Now, Young wasn't academically fit for the SEC which has admitted players with Downs Syndrome, but he was a fit at UM.

Tayt then regaled us with excuses about Young getting bad coaching and that being the reason that 2 HS kids ate his lunch. Those HS kids must have been coached by Bill Belichick and our own Beardy Ryan to be ahead of a guy who has been in an FBS program for 3 years.

Excuses? Excusing does not equal explaining. Also, Shaq/Mike are special players that don't come around often and are mature beyond their years, not just typical freshman. You act like Young is the worst LB on the team and got beat out by 3-star MAC recruits.

Let's not pretend coaching from Golden is easy to come back from. A lot of these guys will need psych evals down the road...
