Juwon Young rumor

His dismissal will hurt... My dad would sometimes say if you are going to be dumb, then you better be tough... The kid made a mistake ... what I don't like is when the masses stand off and race to cast the first stone... like they have never made a mistake... Any one that knows JY personally likes him... he had that personality... All he was missing was some focus... He didn't expect the Youngens to come in behind him so ready to ball... if he had he could still be a starter and if he had remained I would not have been shocked if he reclaimed his spot. I told Shaq to learn from this and be careful not to judge this.

I don't know the young man so I will take your word for the type person he is. However, as a player your statement about focus and not expecting a young-en to take his spot speaks volumes as to the state of the program, and how it has under performed for years. It shows a lack of competition, care and drive. Some of this is on the coaching staff, but a lot is on the player. Hopefully the new staff will have our players in a different mind set knowing the next man is ready to step in if you decide to take a play or two off.

The second issue is that the program cannot afford any violations due to the sins of the past. The NCAA seems to love to hammer Miami and if they are given an inch you know they will take at least a foot. Being an insider i'm sure you could tell stories of others, but as far as I know we are a few months from being off probation and I would hate to see something as stupid as this cause a major set back.

I hope it works out for Young, and he comes back smarter and more prepared to play and earns his degree. Thank you for your contributions to the board and inside information. Your son looks like the stud we all hoped and thought he would be. It will be fun to watch him terrorize our opponents the next three (assuming he goes pro early) years!

Hope the young man can make it back somehow. Allow for him to atone for the mistake and move on. Understanding the delicate nature for UM, i.e. having the NCAA up their azzes all the time will force more than likely a tougher punishment...

Some of you guys throw out the " bust" or "JAG" words way too easily. It's almost as if the kid isn't Ray Lewis then he sucks. Young played well in the opportunity he had last year in that abortion of a scheme. This would be his 3rd year in the program and he has the potential to be a good LB. Now he might not win a starting job outright but he will be or would have been an important piece of the puzzle at LB. Hope he ends up getting cleared.

I think you guys are mistakenly conflating the terms JAG and Bust. Young is an average player. A JAG. He's not horrible. He's a 3rd year guy who got worked by a bunch of HS kids who were here for a week. You don't win championships relying on guys like that to play much football for you.

Can he be a decent backup? Sure. But if you're recruiting at an elite level, like we should be, then guys like Young shouldn't even be here.

You should have backups like we had when Jon Vilma was backing up Dan Morgan. I see that sort of potential in a guy like McCloud. We need to replace the Youngs on the roster with McClouds.

Everyone fcks up. Unfortunately, it sounds like the bigger mistake might have been lying about the original mistake. That's the lesson to take from this.

I'm not judging him for any mistakes. I'm judging his ability on the field. UM is judging him for the mistakes/lies. It ain't always "hey, leave him alone everyone messes up." Sometimes, when you mess up you gotta pay the piper.

Ain't with u on this one Franchise I think he is better then mike smith, Gordimer, and ferry McCray.. Any of them get playing time it hurts us big time... I'm hoping Darrion Owens is 100%

Juwon Young was more than average, he has the talent to make an NFL roster... A guy as big as he is to show some of the flashes hes made on the field isnt a fluke. I dont even think what this issue is about warrants getting kicked off the team??

And ppl willing to judge his character on an issue like this shows your true character... Which is fake af with this self righteous bs.

Guy can help us, he is not the first veteran on a team to lose his spot to a freshman especially Shaq and Pinckney they are not just freshmen!!!

Anyone calling Young a JAG should go back and read Pete's write ups before he committed to us and also how happy everyone was when he committed....

For every Vilma/Morgan we had several Chris Campbell's and Howard Clarke's. He can easily be CC or Clarke! We need the kid.

95% of the players are JAG until proven otherwise.

He might be better than 1 or all those dudes. Doesn't mean he's above-average though. Just because you're better than Ferry McCray doesn't mean you ain't a JAG. McCray is putrescent.

Clark was awful. Campbell was actually a good player. You can beat the Dukes and UVAs with Young. You're not beating top caliber teams relying on guys like Young.

I understand your logic but even in those glory years in 2000-2002 when we had an NFL farm team we had guys like Darrel McClover, and Chris Campbell(RIP) starting or playing major roles. I understand the point you are making and I agree we should be recruiting at an elite level but even then, they won't all turn out to be future starters or first rounders. Sometimes, a kid doesn't realize his potential until his 4th or 5th year in the program.

Ppl act like you gotta have 1st rounders at every spot followed by hall of famers 2nd string and 3rd string...lol Where do ppl come up with this stuff??

Juwon Young is the type of player u have depth with not this fantasy ****

I do agree with your underlying premise that if we are recruiting at an elite level and if Richt and Co are overseeing a long overdue culture change that we will keep moving the talent level forward and eventually guys like Young are rendered obsolete because the level of competition is too high. If Richt is who we think he is then we will get to that point sooner than later. I still think Young could have been a good player in time but that has been most likely rendered a moot point.

Kid knew better. There are no shortcuts.

Then lied. That always makes everything much, much worse.

Too bad. I think he was a positive for the team.

Busted when social media struck again....Why is it taking so long to render decision? Doesn't sound like AQM is out of the woods yet either according to Barry.

He wasn't playing MIKE. Shaq and Gordinier are both very smart players and good field generals. That is why they are at MIKE. JY is big, strong, fast but not as cerebral as these guys. Diaz wants smart players that don't have to think too much.
I hope JY comes back whether it's soon or next year because he adds great depth but make no mistake he isn't beating a starter out IMO. You will see Grace, Shaq and Pinckney (even if Owens gets back close to 100%).
