Tell me again about all that great Northwestern talent we got. All those can't miss guys who all missed. If South Fla was what it used to be, even Shannon and Golden couldn't have screwed things up to the degree we saw from 2003-2015. We had loads of So Fla guys on those teams. Not saying the Tidewater is better than So Fla but ... if you think they don't play great HS ball there, you are dreaming.

Such a stupid *** post. Golden and Shannon’s teams were loaded with NFL players, mainly from south florida.

An occasional early round player here and there but ... for the most part, late picks or FAs.

Yeah, late round players like allen hurns.

Please, show us some empirical evidence showing that the tidewater area is comparable to south florida. Nfl picks? Nfl players?

Maybe I shoulda brought the per capita argument into play here. After all, So Fla's population dwarfs that of the Tidewater area. What got under my skin here was the implication that VaTech doesn't operate in a strong recruiting area. Marcus Vick aside (and was he really any worse than many of the QBs UM ran out there this century?), my only point was to try to shed some light on some flat-out lack of knowledge. Not talking to you there, Tony.

As for current NFL players, forgetting the guys on rosters who see little action, there's Pro-Bowler Kam Chancellor, Tyrod Taylor, Torrey Smith, Ahmad Brooks, Ravens TE Ben Watson, DeAngelo Hall. I guess EJ Manuel is a backup QB somewhere. Did Harvin just retire? From Richmond, so I didn't count him, you've got Russell Wilson.

They're always gonna have a good team every 3 or 4 years that can give you real problems. They have to get a player like Vick to do anything serious. They don't ever get the all round depth to win it all. They benefited from Miami, Clemson and FSU being terrible in the mid to late 2000s, thats over

Pretty spot on. Beamer maxed them out and maybe Fuente will replicate some of that some day but there's a definite ceiling on that program's overall potential.

And it is precisely because of that ceiling that I fully expect Fuentes to move on in the next 2-3 years.

Top 15 class with only 3 ESPN300 recruits? Lol it won't last.

Tech blew up dominating the 757 recruiting wise and those days are over with the top kids from out here mainly going out of state nowadays.

Va Tech will always get a bunch of players with potential and then develop them to be really good 3rd and 4th year players.

And who has had the better record in the ACC since both joined?

Va Tech for the reason I mentioned plus coaching. Since they have been doing this for a long time, they always have fully developed players and the depth to allow low rated recruits the time needed to develop.

Do you know the names of ANY players other than Canes? Or any who played more than 5 years ago? Lot of recent (this century) NFL stars on that list.
