Justin Fuente and Virginia Tech

They dont recruit well I dont care if thats a top 10 class if u aint recruiting top 5 classes yearly u gettin stuck in the mud. We should destroy them yearly with what we got coming in

Its obvious this is not good, and hopefully a fluke.

We always have more talent. They beat us due to our awful coaching. Almost always relied on doing nothing offensively, but sit on the ball until our offense gave them a TO or field position. That '03 game, that snapped our streak. Berlin gave them 28 of their 31 points? Just literally passed the ball to their defense for pic6s. The next year, with the ACC title on the line, at home, Berlin and his TO's took 14 from us, and gave them 17, for a -31 differential?

Richt changed the series, IMO. Yes, blown out last year, but this year, even with our 4 TO's in four straight posessions, and a criminal first and goal at the one for no points, we manhandled them as we should.

Not worried about VT anymore. The leper with the most fingers in the Coastal, and one OOC win over a ranked team in their history, is behind us.

I admit, I thought Fuente and Default Fedora would be our albatross forever, but thank Christ I was wrong.

If we are worried about VT, it means we arent in position to worry about ACC titles or playoffs.

I bet the farm they lose to FSU in their opener next year.

Scout was bad at evaluating VT's area of the country and always had VT classes ranked lower than the other services. As soon as they removed Scout from the composite formula VT's class shot up like 5 spots without them adding anyone.

Since I graduated in the 1990's, they've actually been a THORN in our side, from the Big East to the ACC Coastal.
I've always considered wins over FSU and VT in the same season to be preconditions for a NC ride.
Bud Foster. ~nuff said.

Go Canes!

They’re are many schools that don’t recruit “well” by your standard and still perform much better.

How many top 5 recruiting classes (especially “yearly”) did TCU, Baylor and MSU have? How about Oregon under Chip?

yea but those schools that dont never field that next level defense required to win it all, its why no one will give OU a chance in this playoff and rightfully so

How is this relevant to your prior post? Why don't you talk about the Pax Romana as well?

I was hoping Tennessee would offer some ridiculous figure & he would take the money and run.

Big fan of Fuente.. but I really hate that he is at VT.

Recruiting well enough means defense as well, its why bama stays in the mix they go all out on defensive recruits length and speed. Its relevant because recruiting is about every position, its not about top 10 in recruiting its about top 5 and usually those top 5 teams are bringing in studs on defense. I havent looked but Im pretty sure the last 10 national title winners recruited well on D and had a D

Seems like same old VT class as always but just a ton of commits.

21 3 Star guys and 4 4 Star guys.

In case you haven't noticed, Fuente's a good coach. They will be good for the next couple of years. I expect tons of great games between us, they're rapidly becoming one of our main rivals.

The good news is we will be better

Their issue is being able to land the best players in the state consistently. They lose some top shelf kids, too often, to other programs. If he can turn the tide on that, VT will continue to be a major player in the ACC.

The Tidewater (Norfolk, Hampton, Va Beach, Chesapeake and Newport News) is a very strong recruiting area. Comparable to South Florida. Northern Virginia (Washington suburbs) and the counties surrounding Richmond are also pretty darn good. Then you've got the rural farm boys who no one except Tech knows about.

***** stop. Every year I hear about all this so called talent in those areas, and none of the VA schools got $h!t to show for it. Probably as much as a Big Foot as "Texas talent". ******* VA.

Tell me again about all that great Northwestern talent we got. All those can't miss guys who all missed. If South Fla was what it used to be, even Shannon and Golden couldn't have screwed things up to the degree we saw from 2003-2015. We had loads of So Fla guys on those teams. Not saying the Tidewater is better than So Fla but ... if you think they don't play great HS ball there, you are dreaming.

Such a stupid *** post. Golden and Shannon’s teams were loaded with NFL players, mainly from south florida.

Except that you are wrong about the top 5 in recruiting. Since 2011, here is Clemson's class ranking per 247 Sports:

'11 = 10th
'12 = 20th
'13 = 15th
'14 = 16th
'15 = 9th
'16 = 11th

Are you reading your original porst above? WTF are you talking about? Your OP is flawed/wrong.

I remember TCU and Michigan State recently having some really nasty defenses.......seems like this guys premise is pretty flawed.
