This is a 3-9 (from last year) UNC team coming into our stadium for a night game on national TV. Unfortunately with the opponents we’ve played this season and the demise of the teams left on our schedule, it’s time to put our foot on the gas.

Just getting by UNC is not enough if we’re thinking big picture here. Half the committee doesn’t watch most of the games, so a score like FIU last weekend when we gave up 17 in the 4th quarter doesn’t really indicate how much we dominated and really does nothing for us. Just like racking up wins against VT, FSU, and BC are starting to look pretty pedestrian unless we knock their socks off and make a statement. The committee says margin of victory isn’t important but I say BS. We were 10-0 last year and still behind a Clemson team that lost to a Syracuse team we beat. It’s time to light up the scoreboard and take advantage of all these weapons we have on offense.

We’re favored by 18 and most Canes fans I’ve talked to think the line is a bit high. Let’s get Perry under center and win this game against these bums by 40.

GO CANES! See ya at the Rock!

I mean I hope we blow them out but if we win out (Clemson included) we are in the CFP. 11-1 with our only loss with our now backup QB at the beginning of the season will not keep us out.

Teams ahead of us will continue to lose, and we will continue to climb the rankings unless we stumble to a weaker opponent

Don't expect a repeat of last year. Think the crowd, national TV and the black unis will have us jacked. But winning is hard.

Just look around the country and you see examples every week of ranked teams getting a scare.

Penn State/App State
Oklahoma/Army
Notre Dame/Ball State
VTech/Old Dominion

If we run it effectively, it will open up things for Perry and we win it easily. Prediction 38-10 Canes, with the QB situation being put to rest permanently.

According to this board, how you play doesn't matter, just the W or the L.

I don't think Miami is good enough to destroy any ACC team by 40. We can't even cover the spread vs. FIU. UNC always gives us a good game even when they suck. I think this will be a solid victory for us but we aren't crushing them. Let's continue building this momentum, play a good game, stay healthy and get ready for FSU.

According to the board, every pollster and channel watches every single P5 game down to the quarter, and realizes we totally dominated FIU for 3 quarters.

Never mind a game is for 4 quarters...

Bingo. The QB switch angle is huge. It gives cmr the chance to say we're a different team than the one that lost to LSU.
Thats why I wish he'd just announce Perry as the starter now & start the campaign. Don't make it gradual. Don't alternate them. That implies Perry is barely beating Malik for the job - meaning the team isn't thaaaat much different. Instead we need to tell everybody who'll listen that this is a different team with Perry under center.

Great point

We literally turned the FIU game into a scrimmage.

If that's not destruction, I don't know what is.

One or two poor performances won't hurt us, as long as we win. What we CAN'T do is look like dog poo every week, and especially not on national television. We need to show the world we are not the same team that got blindfolded and put in front of a firing squad against LSU.

Ask Wisconsin about that

Wisconsin lost at the wrong time, end of the year, and didn’t win their conference championship. We win out including a win over Clemson in the ACC title game we’ll be in the playoffs. However, don’t see that happening yet. We’re not ready to take that next step.

Not for the voters who just have time to look at scores.. Looks like we only put up 31 points and couldnt blow them out. Perception is reality
I was quoting a poster who said we aren't good enough to blow out an ACC team because we struggled with FIU.

We didn't struggle with FIU.

I don't see how voters came into this?

I had this discussion after the FIU game. Right now, Miami is on the waaay outside looking in at any possible playoff scenario. Still it's not unthinkable that if they should manage to win the conference, they'll be in the discussion. Now do you think the playoff committee is going to look at that FIU game and say, "oh Miami was blowing them out but they pulled all the starters and allowed FIU to get back into the game"? Of course not. They're going to say "Miami won the conference but that nail biter against FIU is a black mark on their record." The committee, the AP voters and especially the coaches don't actually watch every game. They watch the headline games and rely on a box score for all the non marquee games.

We've had two opportunities to empty our bench and play every single third and fourth string player on the roster. It's conference season now so, let's leave those guys on the bench where they should be.

Always been the Canes problem getting up for these also ran ACC squads...if we could just put a gold helmet on all these teams, we would be fine. Night game opener in the blacks....should be fine here.
