Well having lost someone somewhat close to me today, I figured i'd write some gibberish..

Have you seen how quiet this team has been compared to richt? Have you see how loud the gators have been? I read michael jordan's book "driven from within" a few weeks back and learned quite a few things from it.

Michael talked about his time as he first entered the league with the bulls, and how there were expectations of him. But these expectations had yet to be proven, he was at that moment just a bench player behind a quantified and proven starting 5. He talked about how to him there was no pressure to perform because of this, those expectations were everyone elses and not his whom he chose to ignore. To him it was "i'm gonna go out there and play my game and let the chips fall where they may."

Michael always put himself in this situation in every opportunity that I can remember, in interviews specifically. He would always say things like "yes he's good, I look forward to the challenge" right before he dropped 69 points 18 rebounds 6 assists (could've had 10) 4 blocks and 2 steals on Craig elo after the cleveland newspaper called elo a good defender and he was asked about it.

What is this situation? The position of the underdog, because as the underdog you don't have to deal with pressure it's all on the other guy. What has Manny said recently about florida's coaching staff? From what another person told me which I assume to be true, he had high praise for like 5 or 6 guys that he put on the air waves saying how good they were.

He's done this same thing with our players, letting uf flop their mouths off... so tell me, what's gonna happen if jeff thomas houses one on the kickoff? It's like if you ever played a game of 1on1 basketball and were running your mouth before the game. As soon as you're down 3 or 4 to 0 in a race to 7 or w/e you begin to feel that pressure. Pressure that didn't even come from the other guy, it came from just you and nothing but you. Now the guy can put even more pressure on you, because even if you lose it's not like it was a quiet "see who's better" and have a good hand shake later. You were running your mouth, he can let everyone know after this game what happened and it can haunt you...

Gentlemen I can't state this enough, as long as these men just do their assignments the chips are gonna fall where they may...

Godspeed

Favorite Mj story is when he dropped like 50 in a preseason game on Jalen Rose for talking smack about locking him down.
Sorry for your loss man.
But yes both the coaching staff and players have been quite professional and showing respect to the opponent. Tyson used to do the same early in in his career.

Couldn’t agree with you more.. I have a weird ND 17 feeling right now
There was a lot of yapping on this board before LSU last year. I was worried. I saw little to warrant the confidence. We didn't have a game-changing QB who could help us overcome a physically-superior LSU team. I still don't understand how some people say we were in that game.

This year I feel differently. I think we could do very well. I hope I'm right.

Sorry for your loss. I hope we have some news this weekend to help brighten things up a bit.

Sorry for your loss man, I hope all is well with family/friends.

I too feel the quiet confidence building in this team. It's like that guard dog that doesn't bark to let you know it's there, or that Pride Male lion. It's not about the noise, it's about the attack. And how best to attack, but silently...without warning? I hope that is the case.

Sorry for your loss, bro....sincerely.

I totally agree w u as well. We’re young, but there’s a certain level of maturity rising among our boys. I think we have a surprise season, but it shouldn’t come as a surprise.

Last yr’s squad grossly underachieved. Just go look at our box score #’s & legit we should’ve only lost 1 game last yr which was Wisc. Even w the predictable hand claps, lack of Offensive play callings, we were moving the ball, and always had an in opportune TO, stalled drive on the opponents end, or worse yet, a **** poor punt that gave the opposing team short fields.

We underachieved and that’s OK; that was last yr. UF is looking at us at 7-6 not understanding we were this close to being 12-1. They’ll find out, soon.

So sorry for your loss. Your post reflects deeper thought process in you at the moment. Ride it while it stays, there’s a rainbow waiting for you when you emerge.
