Just saw a headline from Espn........

I don't know why you are all worried we're bringing back the guy who gave up 778 yards in a game

I agree. But it's worth noting that UF didn't sneak up on Bama like Ole Miss might have. They went toe to toe with a ready and motivated Bama squad. They aren't invincible.

In sports where there are a five or seven game series, the deeper, better team almost always wins. In football where it comes down to one game, an innovative coach on a less talented team can still scheme up something that catches the stronger team by surprise. Point is, a game against Bama is not totally hopeless, but it will require some outstanding coaching and a lot of luck. And if you are going to play them, the first game of the season is definitely the time to do it. Bama will have a lot of roster turnover and Miami has a lot of experienced players coming back. UF's performance showed me that there are ways that a team with a somewhat comparable talent level to Miami can still manage to be competitive with Bama, at least for one game.

No team is unbeatable of course. I’m just talking about over time the heavy odds are with them. Statistically they’re going to win most of their games and I mean like 98% of their games. The advantages are just too great

The shameful thing this should have been our school...do you think sta is paying Jason Taylor Darryl Williams and twan Russell. We are in Miami guys have houses there. Should be easy picking for us!!! Shameful we didn’t think out of the box, oh where are jimmy johnson and butch Davis with that out of the box championship thinking.

LMAO the tiny private school focusing on academics "should have" been the giant public school that only cares about football.

OK.... that makes any sense at all.

I agree with this. I live in Alabama and work in Tuscaloosa three days a week, that place is an absolute **** hole but you are correct the infrastructure of that city is third world level in my opinion and you can tell that all the money goes to that university not the surrounding area.

Why would the proceeds from a STATE university go back to the city it resides in? This isn't how municipal finance works.

They need a PLAYER cap in CFB...at least one where everyone has the same amount to spend on players..
To bring equitability to college football, how about designing a formula where every team has a total investment cap ($$) of signees every year. For example, a 5* is worth $1,000, 4*=$900, 3*=$500, 2*=$200, 1* or less=$100. Then a team can still sign their allotment of 25 players every year, but they cannot exceed their total investment cap (e.g. $22,000 or $880/signee). May be not exactly this particular formula, but something along these line of thought. It's not difficult, it is just the will to make college football more equitable, exciting, and competitive. This approach, or something similar, will bring to the forefront and differentiate the good to great coaches from those that just live off of the riches. Of course the rich teams, the NCAA and Dr. Mark Emmert will never allow this process to be even considered. Just a thought!

I understand how municipal finances work, what I was referring to is how much $$ the city makes off the program, they dont invest back into the city only the area around the campus, I get that that is the way it will always work, but Tuscaloosa as a whole is a crappy place.

The entire state is predicated on a football program inside of a ****** academic institution. If Bama ever goes back to being average to bad like they were in the early 2000s then the state might quite literally go under lol
I remember when Bama sucked in the mid-50's. I watched UM clean their clock in the OB. I think it all changed when they brought in Bear Bryant. Our success is built in part on their success. A former Bama assistant under the Bear, who was also a player for the Bear at Kentucky, helped turn our program toward its greatness in the '80s. That was Schnelly. (Lou Saban is also responsible for turning us around--he recruited some great players who Schnelly inherited.)

Saban was set to have enos as his oc very recently and he probably would’ve crushed it. Scheme is important but their talent is/has been ridiculous
