Just me, or CFB >>>> NFL?

College football for many reasons:

1) Creativity/variety in offensive and defensive systems. Prevents the viewing experience from becoming stale and repetitive.

2) Atmosphere. Nothing better than a top 10 ranked matchup. Those stadiums are pure pandemonium. Very few NFL fan bases can generate similar enthusiasm. And I say that as Bills fan.

3) David vs. Goliath games. One of the reasons March Madness is awesome is because everyone likes to see the 14 seed upset the 3 seed. Last year, for instance, you had Vanderbilt take down Bama. That was insanity. You don’t get that type of vibe in the NFL.

4) Imperfection. They are college kids. They make mistakes, which makes each game far more entertaining. You can’t predict how teams/players will perform week to week.

5) The stakes. Even with the expanded playoff, almost every game matters. You can’t drop more than two and hope to make the playoff. Meanwhile, on the other hand, you got teams with 8-8 records sneaking into the NFL playoffs. This dynamic, personally, makes it hard for me to get invested. If you lose, there is always next week. College generates that “win or else” mentality amongst the fanbase. The result: a level of intensity that is through the roof.

CB play in the NFL is significantly better than in college.

But in both its still an artform that is absolutely beautiful when done correctly.

QB play in College, particularly with the Big XII & G5's is surpassing the NFL.

NFL QB play has mostly been horrendous thus far. It's been pretty awful in College too amongst the P4's.

Too much dinking & dunking going on every game.

Sports is entertainment. Pure and simple. If the NFL had characters, both individually and team identity, then it would be fun. Instead, it's a bunch of teams using the same metrics and data and trying to be 0.5% more efficient than the other team.

It's a wash to me.

College has:
-better game day atmosphere
-stronger rivalries (although more rivalries go by the wayside as conference realignment occurs)
-regular season "competitive" games mean more

On the negative side, college football has:
-fewer competitive games - yes, games mean more, but quite a few are such mismatches no one really is worried about the upset
-players get paid, but still refuse to play in non-playoff bowls
-the only scheduling guideline is 12 games per year - some teams play 6 home games, some play as many as 8, some play 10 or 11 P4 teams a year, others only play 8 or 9
-because there are no real scheduling guidelines and each conference is on their own, there is a need for a playoff committee to pick teams and since there is a playoff committee, losses in some conferences mean more than wins in others.
-worse instant replay system
-"targeting" rule
-average 4 hour games (although better this year)

Pardon if this is a bet off topic. Watched a few minutes of eagles game. They did the tush push and each time the guard moved before the snap but no false start was called. Due to slow motion, missed call, or bad calls?

Does college ball have characters either though? The pros actually let the players celebrate more than college teams.

NFL is the most boring sport on tv honestly.

That’s saying alot because I’m a Rays fan and they are BRUTAL to watch sometimes

I'm sure I'm in the minority, but in my younger days, pushing a teammate forward was not allowed. It was much better then. Relied more on the skill or power of the individual to get yardage. Save the scrums for rugby.

I prefer NFL ball but i always football myself out on Saturday and can’t stomach any more come Sunday. I also don’t have an unhealthy emotional obsession to an NFL team like I do the Canes. But nothing beats NFL playoffs for me

QB play in NFL is pretty bad. Tons of teams playing young QBs they drafted high who probably shouldn't be starting. Some other teams playing retread bums because their young QBs are unplayable. QB play on average seem worse than usual in the NFL. The elite guys are still fun as **** to watch though.

Yeah, it’s getting to where the teams are entirely interchangeable because it’s so boring. On a Sunday, I might throw on an NFL game if I feel like watching football, but it doesn’t really matter which one because they’re all the same. CFB programs all have their own identities and cultures.
